New blood pressure monitors are ready to use (calibrated) out of the box. Many physicians suggest the bp monitor be taken to the office and compared with the unit used there. I get "white coat" higher than normal blood pressure at the doctor's office almost every time. If you are like me, your home readings will probably be lower. Barbara

Desktop unit.so doesn't need a stand. There are small recessed nuts on the back so you could add a bracket if desired.
