Experienced mycologist here. these are convenient, but the contamination rate is higher than it should be (2 or 3 out of 10).So, easier than making your own, but more expensive and lower odds of success

I have used this product once to fantastic results, and based on this experience can foresee using only this product in the future. It functioned quickly and thoroughly, with a 100% success rate and no adverse contamination. I recommend it highly.

I purchased 2 boxes (6 packages each). Waited over 5 weeks and finally got mycelium in only ONE bag! I did however get terrible contamination in one bag and more contamination just starting in 3 other bags. So, so far out of 12 packages total contamination is 4 and still nothing in 7 bags with little to no hope at this point and most likely those will end up with contamination as well. I think the reason is the rice is very WET inside which lends itself to getting contaminated. Aside from Uncle Ben Tek all grain I get elsewhere is very dry. So that's over $60 spent on the rice and all the wasted money spent on spores and liquid culture I injected the bags with leaving me at a loss of about $160. Do NOT buy!

Heard about this from a friend and wanted to try. Arrived very fast. Looks like it was made very well. Sturdy plastic just like the Uncle Ben ones, except this one is all see through which is why I bought it. Would be good to check on mycelium growing.Rice: looks well hydrated, but excess water!! Great! I know Uncle Ben’s had some formula change where there’s too much water lately.Been exclusively using Uncle Ben’s Tek following 90sec mycology tutorials with success. Crossing fingers that this one is even better.

Really really good quality stuff. Fastest colonizing grain I've used, and so far no contam.

A couple of the bags got mold. I may stick with Mason jars. I find it cheaper, although more work goes into it, it's worth it to minimize contamination.

I’ve been using uncle bens 90 sec rice tek for over a year now because I like the convenience. So I was excited to try benny boys tek. I posted a comparison with uncle bens and you can tell benny boys has no visible moisture which is perfect for mycelium compared to uncle bens that looks very wet. I’ll keep using these from now on just because its for growing mushrooms.
