Good, but why such small print?
Good content that helps with the thinking process for academic papers. Unfortunately the print is tiny, making it a tiring read.Quotations, which are used extensively throughout the book, are in 8 or 9pt font. The main text is a little bigger, but not much. The publisher needs to take a course on modern typesetting; 11pt should be the minimum font size used for legibility.Publisher: add a few pages to this book and bump the font size by a couple of points. At £40 for a thin paperback surely there’s enough fat to cover the negligible costs.

Stylishly Done
Writing with style isn't easy--which is probably why I never manage to do it. But if I ever do come close to penning something stylistically imaginative, or creative, or whatever, it's probably in part to books like this. Like most good writers--I assume--I'm a perfectionist who's constantly refining and adapting my craft. I want to be the best possible writer, which means I try to soak in as much writing advice (including tips, tricks, titbits) as I can, using a variety of sources. I want to know it all. Everything. So although this might not be as comprehensive as other writing manuals on the market, or might not be the definitive guide to writing, it has enough decent advice to justify buying it. It's quick reading, easy to understand, and has some interesting insight in places. I've probably read better--not that many particular titles come to mind, other than Elements of Style--but it's still in the top ten I've read so far. It's not one for amateurs, however. It's a book for those who are already adept at their craft and want to hone it.But even if you just want to learn how to write a well-constructed letter, or an email, I'd recommend checking it out. Whatever skills you currently possess, the advice in this book will sharpen them.

Received In Guaranteed Timing and Quality + Great Book
I use this for my Intro to English course in college. It has been the most helpful guidebook on how to truly Write With Style. Some of the ideas may seem a bit obvious, but Trimble did a pretty amazing job critiquing the differences between a novice and a veteran writer. This has helped me write better response essays, giving me the full points that I can feel confident for deserving. Anybody struggling with writers' block or just wanting something fun to read should definitely give this book a try! It might just be the best advice you'll ever get in life...

A good addition to your library, even if you have other writing how-to books
Years ago, I read Style: Ten Lessons in Clarity and Grace by Joseph Williams, and I recently bought Trimble's book to compare the two books. Because Joseph Williams treated the topics of style and clarity so comprehensively, I did not expect to learn anything new in Trimble's book. I was wrong.I wish I had started with Trimble's book. If you are interested in improving your writing--particularly expository writing--I would recommend starting with Trimble's book before moving on to the Joseph Williams book for a more detailed treatment of the subject. One of the things I found most useful in Trimble's book was his advice on how to plan and write an essay, which made me wish I had read this book in high school or college. If you are a student and have to write any type of essay or report, read this book.

The media could not be loaded. Thanks a lot. Can’t be better than this.

Good for inexperienced writers.
I bought this book for a Lower division English course as it was required. It isn't the most exciting thing to read, but if you are new to college level writing it is helpful. If you aren't required to get this for a class or don't think you need help with writing basics then you may want to look elsewhere.

A Must Have Book
This book has been an amazing tool for me as a writer! The author writes in such a way that the sometimes dry topic of English mechanics is actually fun to read. I go back to 'Writing With Style' pretty often. Though, admittedly, I didn't refer to it before I wrote this review.
