Amprobe AMP-220 True-RMS 600A AC/DC Clamp Meter

I have been comparing this meter to my 10 year old Ideal meter and have been pleased with its accuracy when measuring current draw. Not sure if it's user error but the back light time out is short:(. Very excited to try all its functions and show off that it does phase rotation and motor rotation.

Fantasic meter! Been using an older version of the AMP line of meters which did not half the features this one did. The best features of this meter is the large display which IS backlit, a DC clamp on option integrated into the main clamp, and it runs on 2 AA batteries as opposed to the CR2032 in the older models. Also the rotary selector switch has a great snap action and excellent feel at he breakover point. Lastly the motor direction testing and leads are absolutely fantastic! All the leads are color coded and have rubber aligator boots that snap easily on to the tips of the test leads making hard to reach test points a joy to use!The conutinity beep is plenty loud, not ear splitting, but quite sufficent for 85-90 db environments.My only gripe is trying to select the correct measuring mode. While I certainly appreciate all the avilable features making sure the rotary switch is in the right position and I've hit the select button the correct number of times has given me a few false flags. This will go away with time and practice with the meter but it should be noted you should keep the manual with the case until you're comfortable with this meter as your daily driver.Overall an excellent feature set with excellent implemnetion despite a few niggly things.

-- AMP-330 --I was disappointed to find that it only can measure to a tenth of a volt (and no mV range at all). This is really an unforgivable design/implementation decision. That fact becomes even more annoying when I tried it out and looked at the NIST calibration sheet that came with it. Basically the meter reads low all the time, although still within specifications. So 5V is 4.9V, 12V is 11.9V, 48V is 47.9 etc. In practice this lack of resolution and accuracy makes this device a joke for many tasks. So it rarely gets used.
