Q: How did you get it to work with frontpoint? i have fp and contacted them and they said it is not one of there approved thermostats.

I connected mine with frontpoint just fine. The only setup snag was that the instructions are inaccurate for pairing with the base station. I had to hold down the center and down buttons on the thermostat to start the pairing. Once it is paired, call frontpoint and they should be able to "see" the thermostat on your profile to complete the setup.

Q: What can be controlled from the panel itself?

From the actual thermostat itself you can control the temperature but to use all the features and to programme it you need to use the Alarm.com app.

Q: Can this be used to turn on the fan only from the base unit?

I am unsure what you mean by "base unit." On our system (four wire) the fan can be turned from "auto" to "on" on either the computer (via website), phone via app or alarm base unit. If you mean from the thermostat itself; if it is possible, it is not readily apparent how to turn on the fan itself.

Q: Does this thermostat work with the 2gig alarm system?

I have the 2Gig go Alarm system configured with Alarm.com and it connects well with the thermostat as a Z-Wave device (it is detected as a thermostat), although I access the features from alarm.com not from the 2Gig system.
