UPDATED:This device does work with Google Home, however the instructions in the box says to search for "HVS Smart" listed in Google Home application. However, after searching other questions on Amazon, you must look for the "Smart Life" application and then login with your HVS account.Setup is straight forward using the Android app. It does require 2.4 GHz WiFi, if your home is only 5 GHz this may not be the product for you. Your phone MUST be on the 2.4 GHz WiFi at the time you configure the lights, if not it will not configure them. Once you do configure the lights, you can then move your phone back to 5 GHz and it will be able to manage the device.Very durable, these are heavier than expected and use much thicker cable. Very happy with how durable these are!Happy with the brightness and the available color options and customizable themes you can do with these. Works great with Google Home and the voice control allows you to control power, brightness, and color. You cannot do any of the advanced themes on Google, however you can still access these using the app.

The product is well made. The cable and bulbs look very durable. Setting it up on my iPhone was surprisingly easy. I have the Smart Life app on my phone already to control a few smart plugs. When I plugged the lights in and tried to add a new product in the app, it automatically recognized the HVS String Lights on my network and I simply confirmed it.I hang the lights around the top of the trampoline and the effect at night is amazing. My kids love it! It's easy to change color configuration from my phone and it can be set to any color I want! Smart Life app also allows me to create timers.Overall, it's a very nice product and I strongly recommend it.

For me these lights constantly disconnected from WiFi. The RSSI was -63 dBm which is plenty of signal. So they constantly went offline, often in the middle of controlling them. When they went offline, they always appeared to be connected still from my WiFi router. We also couldn't control them at the same time in the app from two different phones. We basically had to exit the app for another person to connect. Often if I unplugged them from power they reset so I had to set them up again. The setup experience was poor as it never worked the standard way. I need to mention that I reached out for support twice and there was no response.But there's more... I bought Atomi smart lights from Costco to replace them. After connecting the Atomi lights, both the Atomi and HVS lights started working very well. They were responsive, didn't go offline, and we could control them at the same time in the app. If I disconnect either one, the other one starts having connection problems. Obviously this is a FW or app problem. What's interesting is that these two brands basically have identical apps. Why? Well it seems they are both running off the platform from this company called Tuya. So for me this is an untrusted brand now and you can tell which lights use them most likely by the pictures of the app.So I don't know how these got such a good rating, maybe my case is in the small minority. But I'm personally going to avoid Tuya lights for now on.

I put these on my front porch so that I can change the colors throughout the year for different holidays. The wire is very heavy duty and seems like it will last a while. I've had these up outside (slightly covered) for 2.5 months and they work every time, I have them set to turn on at dusk and off at 1AM and they've done that every day as expected. To be clear though, I set the timer up through my google home app since I like to keep everything in one place rather than having timers in the 15 different apps I have for all the smart devices.Picture: Halloween purple and orange "pick 2"Helpful Notes:* Despite what people say you CANNOT set the color of EACH bulb, the only manual choice of colors you have is to either set them all to one color or you can edit the "choose 2" option which allows you to pick two colors that will alternate, that's it, the only other options are all fixed. This was a real bummer for me since you know, some holidays you might want more than two colors.* Don't bother with the HVS app if you plan to integrate with Google Home (not sure about Alexa). The HVS app isn't compatible with Google Home. I ended up following a tip from another reviewer and using the app called "Smart Life", on iOS it's a blue icon with a house outline and a WiFi signal coming from the roof. Just add device and select strip lights (There are three options for strip lights, I think it was the WiFi option but not sure off hand now)* Each light has a little notched hole above it so if you want to hang them there are plenty of options from mounting each light or just every couple, etc.

The media could not be loaded. updated with further test: A nice tech upgrade from traditional lights. The beat part is that it can be easily controled by phone/google home/alexa,not only on and off, but also the colors toning It can be connected by wifi (2.4G only) or bluetooth. Connection is stable. It would be great to remote control the lights when I don't wanna go outside. There are 9 display modes already set up, some examples in attached pictures. In addition, it gives you option to set your own color combination (8-bit color I guess). Kids loved to play on the app to find their favorite.The overall quality is great. Bulbs are bright and beautiful. The whole system is pretty solid, much heavier than traditional wire lights.
