Supco Hard Start Kit, Ref & Freezers, 1 (RCO410)

Researching on the Internet I saw a youtube video where a fridge "not cooling" problem was fixed (the guy said it was a design flaw with this brand of fridge). After identifying that this part may solve my fridge problem, I ordered it through Amazon. The next day I realized that the same part was available at the local Grainger store, so I picked one up & installed it. The fridge has worked flawlessly ever since. My wife was initially disappointed because she wanted a new fridge, but later she was pleased we didn't waste $2K in that wish. A couple of days later I got the same part from Amazon & decided to keep it in case the problem repeats a few years from now.

The part shipped right away and was tracked to the local post office, maybe even to my rural mailbox, but then disappeared. Customer service at DeepDiscountsco was great and they shipped a replacement right away. This particular product replaces the cap, relay, and circuit breaker in many fridges and costs far less than buying them separately (and provides a little extra start-up kick to the motor). It is hard to track down identical replacement parts, so much easier to get this unit. With a little splicing with twist-ons it's an easy install. Obviously it won't mount on the motor like the original parts, which doesn't matter at all, so secure it anywhere convenient with large zips. Fridges are simple things, but you should at least be able to read the fridge's schematic and have a basic understanding of electrical and circuits to do the retrofit.

The device was extremely easy to install after I watched a youtube video. My fridge freezer and fridge was not getting cold at all and after installing the device it started getting cold right away. The fridge actually gets colder now than it ever has. I needed to dial the thermostat down a tiny bit and then my fridge and freeze maintain the perfect temps. I am very happy

I knew right away that the wiring diagram would be problematic if I didn't consider the thermostat. In other words, if I didn't wire the thermostat ahead of the hot leg of this unit, it would simply run all day without shutting off. So, if your unit isn't already wired in a manner that has the thermostat ahead of the power to this unit, you may want to study the wiring and incorporate that into your wiring. The repair took about 5 minutes and works like a charm. I would have given it 5 stars, but feel there should be a warning on the instructions that warns you about the thermostat.

Be wary of who you order this from. Don't buy this from "DeepDiscountsCo". I ordered a Supco product and got a cheap knock off. I guess you get what you pay for. I took this cheap knock off apart and it has very poor electrical connections in it which could possibly burn up your compressor. I took my old Supco part apart and it is very well built.I will reorder this from a more reputable company so that I know I will be getting a Supco brand.I do not work for Supco.

Brought my dead fridge back to life. Compressor would not come on. Was about to throw it away. Decided to give this a try.Simple to install once you figure out which wire plugs where. Best to watch a few YouTube videos. My compressor wiring was upside down. So I researched it for about 20 minutes. Just to make sure. Once I figured out how to do it. Installation took about 5 minutes with basic tools. Popped off old relay. Attached wires. Done. Happy.Be sure to take a lot of photos of your wiring before you start unplugging things.

I had a freezer die on me so rather than call a $100 per visit repairman off the bat, I googled the make & model and found this as a the most likely problem. The other most likely issue was the compressor itself, which replacing would cost more than a new unit. For $11.00, I figured it was worth a shot. It fixed the issue, and if I get anything more than a couple months out of it I figure it was worth the money.

Installed the relay on the compressor of my fridge and it fired right up. If you suspect your compressor or relay to be shot try this to get your fridge going again and keep your fridge running smooth. It’s been on my whirlpool fridge for a few months now and have had no issue.
