My favorite 4x6 canvas boards by far, always high quality and work with multiple mediums
I love these boards, they work great and always are well made. I've used with multiple mediums and the treated canvas really holds up even using really wet paints like tempera. Some boards will soak in the wetter mediums and warp but these always hold up, take color well, and deliver good, vibrant results. Even using sculpture mediums mixed with wet paint worked perfectly. The other sizes in this series are also excellent and are a great price for the quality and quantity.

Really great product for studies or even finals
So if you are looking for 300 year archival product that is made from hardwood and linen, this isn't the product for you. On the other hand, the size I purchased was 11x14: small enough to take w/me to do on site paintings but sturdy enough not to get damaged. I like the 11x14 size b/c it's not too small, not too big. I don't like the backs of these canvas boards, all manufacturers seem compelled to put their brand name on the back, I wish it was just blank but all over them do it and it's not too hard to cover over w/gesso. These are acid free, I have some from years back and they haven't broken, crumbled, color shifted etc. Sounless you are selling your paintings in a high end gallery for thousands of $$ a piece, I think this product would serve 99.99% of painters well. I have used these for oil paints, acrylic and even used it as a test for mixed media as well as watercolor (treated w/an absorbent ground). All worked fine, no warping. The gesso finish is smooth, no bumps or defects. For oil paint I do put one more layer of a ground through, but I do it on all pre-gesso'd products not just this one. I very much like the cost of these canvas panels, they allow you to play or explore and not be paranoid that you are ruining a $80-$150 canvas which has to be just perfect. Like I mentioned, I have used these for mixed media/collage. I haven't tried larger sizes, so not sure how the really large ones would hold up, but for 11x14 I have put layers of paint, medium, ink, collage and it's held up perfectly well. So I have zero major complaints about the product and will be buying some more as long as the price point doesn't go crazy!

and their price isn't terrible as long as you have a 40% off coupon
I'm so thrilled I found these canvas panels! My daughter asked for lots of paint, brushes, and canvas so she can start painting some at home after attending multiple painting parties. She absolutely loves it. However, at 8 years old I don't want to invest a ton of money into canvas when she's most likely going to go through it rather quickly. I checked out Michael's, and their price isn't terrible as long as you have a 40% off coupon, but all I could find there were the wrapped canvas in sets of 10 which came out to about the same price as these. I do like the wrapped canvas, but I wanted to have some of the panels since they take up less room (and, again, my kid is going to through tons of them!). I also like that with the panels I have the option to put them in a frame if I wanted to go that route. These hang really easily and nicely. My daughter absolutely loves decorating her room and bathroom with her own masterpieces, and I love that she's spending her free time being creative. Now I'm certainly not an expert on these things, so I'm sure there are other canvas choices that are higher quality, but I would imagine for the average person these would be a great choice. And for the price you can't beat it! I will definitely buy these again and may even try a different size next time.

Great Price for a Good Set
I recently started painting and purchased a 12 pack of 8x10 canvases I loved. 8x10 were a little small, so once I used them up, I upgraded to this 12 pack of 12x16 canvases. These are very nice canvases with a lot of texture. The back doesn't look as finished as I'd like, but it more than enough for practice and eventual framing. The first 12 pack I purchased was by Art Alternatives, and were overall better, but they didn't have an affordable 12 pack in this size (only a 4 pack for almost $30). This set isn't a major compromise, but I do notice that the edges look messy as you can see from the first picture (the last picture is of my first set). This comes in one large box with two sets of 6. These aren't individually wrapped like the Art Alternatives are, but are wrapped in a set of six, which is a little bothersome. Overall, it doesn't looks as professional, and I would suggest going for these Art Alternatives Canvas Panel (8 X 10) PACK OF 12 in a 12 pack of 11x14 if the size isn't particularly important to you, the texture is nice too. If you require something larger than 11x14, then these are the best price, quality and quantity. All the comparison here should't turn you away from these, I am pretty pleased with them and will probably buy them again if I need more in this size. They feel solid and sturdy, and are really great for practicing. Since I'm a newbie, I'm glad for this set and this price to try new things (both with oils & acrylics) and get to know my own style. So far, painting on these has been fun and even though I don't like most of what I paint right now, I don't feel too bad grabbing a new canvas and trying agin, less than $2 per canvas is fantastic! These may also be a little large for kids, they sort of loose interest or creative vision half way through and just leave a lot blank, 8x10 or 11x14 seems the perfect fit for them. Worth the great price for a good product!
