Excellent Book!
Docker Deep Dive 2024 was the perfect book to get started with Docker!

A quick and easy-to-consume overview of Docker and all the components which comprise the ecosystem.
I really like the way this book is written. It starts each section at a high level and then goes deeper as the author unpacks to subject. There are GH examples to fork and use for learning. There are a fair amount of typos but the content is well organised and easy to consume. There is, unfortunately, no index. The biggest weakness, for me personally, is lack of depth around deploying a set of containers out to a public server and configuring ingress. This is a very common use case for testing and reviewing - especially for DevOps. The Docker Stack section touches on the subject but not in enough depth to give me any confidence in what I read.

Great book
I'm a nerdish type so I like books that go deep into the subject, however, many people have a problem with books being too theoretical leaving your head stuffed with information without practice. Let me assure you this is not the case. This book is theoretical enough to satisfy my nerdish desires while at the same time being practical so you can apply everything you learn there in practice. The author conveniently shares code repos and ready-made images with you so you can follow all examples in the book

Docker was a frustrating technology to use - until this book
After reading this book I feel like I ACTUALLY understand how Docker works and how to use it effectively. Previously, I knew "enough" to do my job as a software engineer, but never really knew everything happening behind the scenes. This meant that my experience using Docker was very surface level, and anytime something went wrong when using it, it was difficult to debug. However after reading this book I feel much more confident using it and feel I actually understand how to use it.Read this book!

Excellent book - but no copy and paste from exercises to my cli
The content is excellent. The author makes a significantt effort to keep the content current with the ever-changing docker platform. My one complaint is with the Kindle web platform. This is a programming textbook - with a lot of failtly complex command-lines to execute to perform the exercises. Amazon does not allow any copy-and-paste from the Kindle Web interface. Which is quite a nuisance. Surely a human should be able top copy a hundred characters at a time for legitimate use!

Excellent Introduction to Docker
This step-by-step introduction to Docker is phenomenal. The author writes very conversationally, not rushing you into more than you can understand, but not leaving you bored and craving more content. This is a very well-paced guide to Docker.

Practical introduction, not a deep dive.
Hyperbole is the order of the day: something like "Practical Survey of Docker" would have been appropriate, but "Deep Dive" sells more copies. It's a fine book on how to use the major features of docker, well worth the ten dollar price tag and it made for a quick read.Kindle notes:There are a number of typos, and all images appear offset/clipped when reading on regular Kindles (Kindle app on iOS does not suffer from this) - I had to hold-press on each image and use the magnifier button to view the image unclipped.
