Best puppy book.
This book was the spark that set me off on a whole new journey. Steveās humour, down-to-earth style and the way he explains things so simply had me hooked from the first page. It didnāt just help me understand training better - it inspired me to take the IMDT 2-day course, which Iāve now completed, and to start my journey as a dog trainer focusing on one particular breed close to my heart. The balance of solid advice with laugh-out-loud moments makes it such an easy and enjoyable read. If you want training that feels clear, practical and genuinely fun, this is the book for you. Steve proves that it really can be easy peasy.

So Easy To Read - Highly recommended!
Such a good, well-written book - I wish I'd found it before we brought our puppy home. Still... he's only 13 weeks old now, and I look forward to implementing all of the advice found here. Really straightforward and easy to read. Helps you to see the world through your dogs eyes, rather than insisting they bend to your way of life.

Good but not enough detail
This is a good book that covers all the basics of puppy / dog training however my only issue is that the author does not go into enough detail regarding why things are done the way they are. For example, he teaches the sit command and how to progress it but mentions nothing about the "stay" command - Further reading has informed me that whether or not a stay command should be taught is debated and many say the sit command has an implied stay - That is the dog should know not to move until the sit is over. I don't know why he doesn't go into more detail (nothing mentioned about "release" commands either for example), as far as i can tell he is a very competent trainer and knows his stuff, just doesn't seem to explain it all for some reason. Overall 4/5 - Good training book to start on but not enough detail / background.

Clear, compassionate advice to help your puppy slot into your life, and help you slot into theirs.
I don't get my little boy until the 27th December and I can't wait! But at least I've got plenty of time to read, digest and, with a bit of luck, remember the guidance in this remarkable book. I've read 3 books now on how to give your puppy a lovely life, and tbh, the other two were tripe! The first one was breed specific (and contained more than 670 commas on 75 pages, I know, it's ridiculous!) I couldn't even read it properly never mind absorb the info contained within. I'm very glad to say that 'Easy Peasy Puppy Squeazy' is brilliant. It's empathetic and humourous, a very easy and enjoyable read, full of common sense and positivity to help your puppy enjoy their life as much as you will enjoy yours. This book suits my personality, and I know this is my go-to guidebook for the foreseeable future. All my previous dogs have been adult rescue dogs, and had been trained by the time they came to live with me: this is my first puppy.

A really practical guide with a dollop of humour
In preparation for buying our puppy, I ordered a few different books to help: this by far is my favourite. The tone of the book is interesting, humorous and knowledgeable. I prepared for our puppy just as the book said and the results were so positive, I really feel like we have given our puppy the best start. The instructions and strategies are really clearly explained and I really like the positive reinforcement focus of the book e.g. give the dog 'cues' not 'commands' and the common sense advice e.g. the 'Control and Management' chapter - if you don't want your puppy to chew your shoes, move them out of the way (and don't resort to crocs!). I have referred back to this book every day since we brought our puppy home and I've just ordered 'The Easy Peasy Doggy Squeezy' follow up too. Highly recommend!

The only puppy book you need.
I read this book in a couple of days, not because I sat and did nothing else, not because I'm a superhuman reader, but because Steve's humour throughout makes this hilarious, fun, informative and down to earth - a joy to read. I refer to him like I know him, as it kinda feels that way after reading his book, which I think is a sign of a great author if you really get a "feel" for their voice. I love his training style and the way he sees our bond with dogs is beautiful. If you're getting a puppy, or even thinking of getting one, read this book! 10/10.

Not easy peasy
This book tells you how to train your puppy,,,, as it says it does, but it does not tell you what to do if your puppy decides it wants to challenge you, or try to control you while your trying to train it, hence I got a trainer in ,,now all good, and I understand her behaviour which you don't get in the book

Really positive training method š¾
Iām currently a hundred & odd pages in, & have read enough to know that this book was an excellent purchase. Itās been over a decade since I last owned & needed to train a puppy, & having recently acquired two chug puppers, I thought it might be a good idea to brush up on my skills. Training methods are constantly evolving, & a lot has changed over the years. I really like this book because it focuses on positive reinforcement to shape a puppyās behaviour, rather than punishment & constant correction. The author makes it very clear that thereās no such thing as a bad puppy, just an owner that has neglected to be vigilant, & consistent. The book is common sense in print really, instead of picking up on everything your doggo shouldnāt be doing, focus on what youād like them to do instead, itās half the effort, & is much less confusing for all. Iāve had to unlearn saying variants of āNoā to my new puppies, because itās just not effective, itās exhausting & frustrating for both yourself & your puppy when youāre constantly finding fault with their behaviour & trying to correct it. The foundation for the training method described in the book is to have a praise party when puppy does something you want them to do, reward with lots of fusses & a tasty treat, & pup soon learns that good things happen when they behave a certain way, & nothing exciting happens when they behave inappropriately. It makes perfect sense! Another useful tip Iāve learned is to really reinforce the āsitā command for lots of different situations, that way if your pupper friend is in doubt about what to do in an unfamiliar situation, their likely response is to sit, because they know good things happen when they do. Thatās so simple itās genius! Iām sure Iāll have picked up plenty more useful training tips by the time Iāve finished reading, but Iām already seeing progress with my puppies thanks to the bits Iāve implemented from the first half of the book. Iād really recommend this book for first time puppy owners, as well as experienced dog owners alike, thereās always things about your training that can be improved upon, & this book is clear, concise & written in an accessible manner, with lots of humour; itās a brilliant & informative read at an excellent price.
