The Literary Witches Oracle: A 70-Card Deck and Guidebook: Oracle Cards Review: Amazing Deck! - So glad I preordered this one, even though I was nervous to not see many pictures. The art style is vaguely gothic and sometimes unsettling in the best of ways. There are so many female authors whose names I recognize and those I do not, but I am inspired to look up and read from now. Meanings are drawn from their works as much as their lives. A warning to those who are looking for something to give them concrete/robust definitions: the guidebook included, while helpful in some ways, offers only 3 words or phrases per card for meanings, then short biographies accompanying each writer. Much of the meanings will have to be deciphered for yourself, which may be disheartening for some. It was unexpected, but once I thought about the flexibility this offered me to incorporate my experience with the authors into the meanings, I was much less discouraged. It'll just take some extra time to get me up to speed! :) Pros: + Gorgeous artwork capturing those "witchy" vibes + Larger than average-sized oracle & tarot cards + Box they come in is beautiful and sturdy + Great textures, will (most likely) shuffle well Cons: - Meanings booklet offers little robust guidance (which may not be a con for some) Review: I love this deck - I love the cardstock it isn't thin and It doesn't seem like it would bend easily, the cards have a nice canvas-like feel and the images are cute (besides the people which are a little creepy) but overall this deck is amazing and very open to your own intuition when interpreting. The guidebook isn't as detailed or thick as most but the deck is almost the same amount (8 cards less than a regular tarot deck). I got the deck for 14.75 when I got it so overall I would say this was an absolute steal in terms of the price compared to other tarot or oracle decks at standard price here on desertcart. Supppper pleased with this purchase! What I like: the feel, the images, the price I got it at. What I don't like: the canvas-like stock apparently picks up dirt pretty easily, also I didn't notice when I first bought it but the deck is very badly curved and it wasn't flat when I got it. I still love this deck but if you get yours curved like mine return it for a new one! desertcart has a really easy return system and if you have prime you can return for free at kohls (i don't know if they do free returns without prime but it's still worth looking into if you get a curved deck and need to return it.)

Gorgeous & powerful, best used with the book
Absolutely gorgeous, lyrical & meaningful, artistically stunning. Beautifully boxed, guide contains basically 3 words about each woman or thematic card, and biography of each author (same one featured in the book). A bit general of an explanation of each card, could've used more on its own, but obv recommend getting the book too. The book is beautifully written, intuitive and artful, really a deeper and more inspiring experience that can give you more information for a reading using these cards, or just a greater understanding of these amazing women and their work. The keywords of the author cards included in this decks booklet give a general idea, but obv the more you know the authors and their work, the more you'll be able to take from using this as an oracle or divination deck. You'll need and want to read a lot, before or after using this deck!

A must have for any witch
I have waiting on this to be released for about 2 months , And i live in Israel so it took about another 2.5 weeks for it to arrive since and it was soooo worth the price and the long wait. I'm a fan of literature and all witch related things since i was a kid. I swear i have waited for someone to create something like these since i was 11 and my great aunt was showing me how to read in coffee. It's got rich 1700 to 1800 hundreds century mystery feel to it . I love the small booklet and the short and to the point ideas for interpenetration for the cards. They are rich with imagery and you get all chances to interpret them according to your own mediumship psychic intuitive abilities and boy do they come out easy with images like the ones painted here. The box is top quality very sturdy and huge ! The cards are also kind of huge - see in the pictures my palm is a bit big and it's still big for me and they are a bit on the heavy side so it could be a bit of challenge for small palm people to side shuffle but it very fun and easy to shuffle poker style. Personally i'm total obsessed with them . Only wonder i have is as to the choice of bright peachy pink of the box as it seems to aim to a more feminist readers and perhaps the the choice of color is a bit too traditional gender roll type of color choice for me. I like it though ! The cards are very thick but bendy and have a oil paint like finish to them. Will enrich your traditional tarot readings for sure!

Quality deck and packaging. Lovely supplement to more detailed readings.
More than expected. Beautiful cards that can speak to anyone if you do your homework on the subjects within. Many of the images are well known as to their symbolism and these work as an excellent supplement to more detailed readings. The book is sturdy and gives an excellent jump-off point if you wish to know more about these literary characters. Everything was nestled into a cute, well constructed box , with a ribbon to aid removing your deck without damaging it.

Good Deck Overall
The quality of the cards is wonderful. Probably my favorite material of any deck I have. The artwork is also very beautiful. However, the cards are quite large which I personally don’t mind, but if you’re like me and have small hands, it might be a bit difficult to shuffle. My biggest compliant though, is the lack of description. The book just tells you about the author on each card which you’re supposed to use to create your own interpretation I guess? There’s three words at the top to describe the card but that’s it. Then the cards without an author are also very very vague. Overall I’d say it’s a good deck, but you should definitely only purchase it if you’re ready to really use your intuition in your readings.

De kaarten zijn van linnen gemaakt. Voelt heel apart. Het boekje dat erbij zit is vrij beknopt en beperkt zich redelijk tot de betekenis. Het gelijknamige boek bevat meer info over de schrijverskaarten. Een aanrader, om deze erbij te nemen.

Excellent work! Not just an oracle deck, but also could be an educational source and an intellectual stimuli. The sophisticated art works bright up my room as well as my mood too. オラクルカードとしてだけではもったいないほどの高いクオリティです。部屋に置いているだけで、部屋の雰囲気と気分が上がります。

This deck is completely different from every other one I have in my collection (getting close to a 100 now thank you very much:D). My impression of it has been tossed around in the air a bit if you know what I mean. Its energy is intensely psychological in my opinion. It seeks to delve into hidden alleyways in your subconscious and dig up stuff you will find pretty revealing and transformative. As I write this piece I'm sitting in front of the reading you see in the picture. This theme has been floating around in my head for many readings now in recent days and weeks. Using other completely different deck that is. In that sense it has certainly been honest and stimulating for me. This particular spread truly blew my mind. The box is lovely. Beautiful colors and material. Clarkson Potter make interesting linen textured decks. The card stock is thick and sturdy but beautiful to riffle shuffle. The artwork is laden with symbology. Somewhat dark in my opinion but that's probably what I need to explore at this point in my divination journey. Trimming the deck is a given. I will do it as soon as I get the time. It's an awesome upgrade to its personality. The structure of the deck splits it in 2 parts. The authors (30) and the "witches' materials" (40). The latter is extremely interesting to use for me. Objects sitting there in an otherwise blank stark space. Speaking directly to your psyche. Triggers you in adventurous ways. The guidebook will give you interesting keywords to play with. No more. You're on your own beyond that. ( And yes it is based off of a hardbound book written earlier by the same creator and that does have a little more information if you care to get that on the side. I chose not to.) It's my "shrink deck" :P We had some stranger vibes in the beginning but now we are doing well . This psychological game and me. We're playing well.
