Western Digital 10TB WD Purple Surveillance Internal Hard Drive - SATA 6 Gb/s, , 256 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD101PURZ (Old Version)

I recently added a NVR recorder to my security camera system, instead of using a computer server and I am using these to expand my NVR’s capacity, since it can handle four 10TB drives, I got two of these 10 TB drives (direct from Amazon) to go with two 2TB drives that I am already using in my security camera recorder. The 2TB drives have held up well to the constant recording and these 10TB are doing fine as well. These drives have added several weeks of past recording data, due to their large capacity. The hard drives have a good 3-year warranty and the WD drives have been very reliable. These hard drives are a bit pricey at 265 per drive, but not bad if you consider per TB cost and the amount of recording space these are capable. 4.5 stars

I ordered two of these 10TB drives for replacing the a 4TB drive in a surveillance system recorder for continuous live recording of 16 4k cameras. The drives arrived timely and in a sealed anti static bag. Devices were installed and the DVR start recording without any issue. This will give the organization an estimated year+ video. These drives are in a continuous recording for few weeks and is doing its job 100%. I will recommend and rate a highest rating for providing what it said to be providing.

I installed 2x 8tb WD81PURZ purple drive into a Lorex NVR 900 series. They both recognized as 7.22tb each. (14.44 total) Will come back in one year to review again after running 12ea 4K 30 fps with audio recording. I have it backed up to 20tb off site NAS (dell network attached storage) I’m hoping they hold up I read a lot of reviews that they don’t last so only time will tell. *** Update 12-21-2021 *** have not had any issues with the 8tb drives they have been recording 24/7/365 at 4k with not one issue.

Pretty much the de facto standard for NVR security systems. Ours supports two of these giving us 16TB of storage. Our system is racked and well ventilated with rack fans for exhaust and a laptop 4 fan "cooler" that sits below the NVR which keeps everything well within reasonable temp. Seagate seems to be okay as well, but "Purple" is my choice.

Early to say yet, Still giving it the burn-in. But, it was very easy to set up Snap and go install into the USB case, and then run disk manager to format it and set a volume letter to it. With the drive access speed, I will probably give it a home inside the PC case eventually.

Just right for our surveillance video camera system with plenty of storage and easy playback of video footage.

I purchased this to add storage to my Lorex NVR. no issues at all and easy to install. I would suggest this product to anyone expanding on their NVR.just adding that this has performed flawlessly with the lorex NVR system.
