I ordered these earmuffs to use with an 'Aolamegs' brand safety helmet (modern hard hat). It looks very similar to one of the 'Safebuilder' helmets that this product page's official photos shows being used with these earmuffs. They come in a plain white cardboard box, with no instructions. I was already aware of how hard-hat/helmet-attached earmuffs have to be slid into the attachment slots at an angle. Despite a lot of effort at appropriate angles, these just would not fit. I see other reviewers who got a complete set from Safebuilder mentioned how excessively difficult it was to get them installed even on the matching Safebuilder helmet, so I think the issue is with the earmuffs, rather than with my helmet. It looked like the bottom of the earmuffs' slot-insert pieces were slightly too wide to fit into the slots, so I decided to try filing/sanding them down. I used a scrap of 60-grit sandpaper I had handy, but a small file probably would have been easier, since the sandpaper kept getting caught on the pointy plastic corners. I got them both sanded just enough so that the bottom edges (now slightly less thick, with a tapered edge and more rounded corners) could slide into the slots with a reasonable effort (instead of so much force that you might break something), and they still latched into place firmly. They are very adjustable, and fit with a comfortable amount of snugness/pressure. The ear cups are deep enough that you can easily double up on hearing protection with earplugs underneath the earmuffs, though the earmuffs do provide a good amount of sound muffling by themselves. When not in use, they can either be rotated to the back of the helmet, or the wire supports can be snapped into the 'further away from your head' position instead. They do affect the weight distribution of the helmet when rotated to the back, so a snugly-adjusted chin strap should be used to ensure your helmet doesn't tip backwards. As another reviewer pointed out, on helmets with adjustable vents, the top of the connectors will be in the way of adjusting the vents from the outside, but they can still be fully operated from inside the helmet if necessary. I think that would be a common issue with any helmet-attached earmuffs due to the standard rotating connector shape, not just this brand. They do feel substantial and work well once installed, so I decided to be generous and go with 4 stars instead of 3, despite the manufacturer needing to fine-tune their connector piece shape. Just be prepared for a very small amount of filing/sanding.
