OptiFer® F 60 Tablets - Natural Heme Iron and Folic Acid Food Supplement

I had some bloods done and the Dr said everything was normal but on checking the results myself I noticed the iron range is quite broad and I was right down at the bottom of it - literally borderline iron deficient. So I decided to supplement and started with plant based - just because it was cheaper. I did notice a definite positive effect but it came with itchy skin and scalp which was enough to drive me mad! So I did some research online, learned about the different types of iron and thought I'd give these ago instead as they are reported to have less side effects. Boy was I right to do that - these have literally changed my life! I've got two young kids (18 month and 4 year old) so one expects to feel somewhat fatigued especially with the little one up through the night. But I had no idea just how tired I was till I started taking these - I feel like a new man! I feel more solid and physically secure - literally - I feel like everything is stronger, particularly my legs, but I've done nothing different - no strength training etc. My digestion is 100 times better - I've struggled with fat digestion for years and had just about every test the NHS could offer me - pipes up and down, scans, bloods, to no avail. Four weeks on these and I'm chomping down fatty meals like you wouldn't believe. I've had a running injury for years which wouldn't respond to any form of therapy. Weirdly, that's gone too! My only regret is not finding them earlier. I should add they recommend one a day - I've been taking two. Hope this helps - Good Luck!

I got tested for my iron and my folate was 10, doc wasn’t concerned but investigating further this is extremely low! It can take a while to build iron levels back up and the majority of tablets can be poor quality. Research told me hemp iron is one of the best and is very gentle on the stomach. I have been taking these for 3 weeks with no stomach issues. Not sure what my levels are as 3 weeks isn’t long and i’d need another blood test. Will take for 3 months and see

My wife has suffered with low iron in blood tests for ages. She always felt tired. The doctor used to tell her to take iron pills (iron fumerate and sulphate) these gave her tummy cramps and she would invariably stop taking. My wife recently had a blood test after a month taking these heme iron pills and her iron is now within the normal range on the test. She took 1 pill every day with orange juice. This pull is expensive compared with the ones you get in boots,but the packet lasts 2 months at 1 pill a day, no cramps and actually works very well. We completely recommend this product.

These have had a much greater impact on my ferritin levels compared to non-heme supplements. Taking 2 a day at the moment which is costly and not something I'm hoping to do in the long run, but the improvements in my symptoms have definitely made up for it. If the price was slightly more affordable I would not hesitate to give 5 stars.

Iv been taking these heme iron tablets 6 weeks, iv never been able to absorb iron because I have had weight loss surgery 15 years ago and since then iv suffered iron deficiency and have never had any luck with any other forms of iron and could never raise my levels, they were severely low and abnormal iv now added the heme into my daily regimen and in these 6 weeks all my full blood count levels have raised and come back as normal, first time in 10 years that iv had every single marker on my full blood count come back as normal I’m absolutely chuffed and will continue to take these tablets just wish they were a little cheaper so glad I came across them

This works better for me than any elemental iron supplement I've ever tried. It's solved my persistent fatigue issues and seems to be actually replenishing ferritin stores rather than just temporarily boosting haemoglobin. It would be a five star supplement for me if it didn't contain bovine products, as I prefer not to consume animal products where possible - but it's been so transformational to my health that I find myself making an ethical exception. What's very disappointing is the price increase since I started buying this supplement. It cost £22 in June 2022 and now costs £32 as of June 2023, an increase much sharper than inflation which frankly feels like gouging. I'd love to see more suppliers offer this product to stoke some true competition in the marketplace.

Great product but please take out the fake folic acid. The product would be one of very few pure bovine heme iron supplements on the market which is extremely rare and would rival the fake constipating crap made in a lab. When you dump in 400mg of fake folic acid you ruin what could have been a great product. I also feel the product is too expensive. You get sixty capsules for £22 which is a lot especially if someone needs to up their dosage initially to restore very low Iron levels quickly before lowering it to maintainance dosage. That's 37p a capsule. In comparison I pay £22 for 200 large beef organ mix supplements which are grass fed non GMO. I've only brought this iron because I really need this particular type but if I find a cheaper heme Iron option I would buy it purely because of price.

Initially I was nervous about taking a heme supplement, IV been vegetarian since 1991 so felt sick at the thought. However, despite using active iron or spatone for the last year, my blood results showed I was very low. Rather than waiting the 4 weeks to see my GP for a prescription, I decided to try this. Within a week I was feeling better, within a couple of weeks my limbs stopped aching and I didn't feel desperate to nap. I went from feeling so down about being exhausted constantly, to being able to enjoy my toddler again. Life changing for me, I also didn't suffer any digestive upsets and I have a very sensitive stomach following bowel surgery.
