The other brand I got from Amazon was not good as the the leca balls were so big. And some are not even round. This one is perfect as the balls are almost uniformly sized, not too big not to small. And what I love about this brand is it can be cleaned easily. Just after 3 washes, water is clear already.

I’ve been using the Hydroton Original Clay Pebbles for my indoor plants and hydroponic setups, and they work perfectly! I purchased Hydroton Clay pebbles to switch my orchids from the traditional to orchid mix. These clay pebbles are great! They vary in size so there's nice air pockets for the roots, and they look so much better than the barks. Transplanting was so easy and they hold the plants in nicely. I've had some of my plants transplanted for about a month now and they are doing much better. I have new growth on the roots and center leaves sprouting so they seem to really like this media. I do have to water much more frequently with the clay pebbles as they dry out much faster (like clay pots do) but since I was having trouble gauging the watering with the bark and had some rot due to over watering, this works well for me. If you don't have time to water every other day or so, you might not want to use these. But if you tend to your plants regularly, this is a great product, at a good price. TIP: There's a lot of dust in the bag so they have to rinsed before using. I poked holes in the bottom of the bag and rinsed them from the top so the dust filled water drained out the bottom. It was quick and easy to do.

I wish I would have bought hydroton when I first started setting up bio active tanks for my reptiles and amphibians last year. I've been using hydroballs and I've bought tons of bags for my tanks and have been disappointed with every bag. Their called hydroballs, they are suppose to be round but instead you get a ton of oddly shaped pieces and tons of broken pieces in every bag. It got really annoying picking out tons of broken and oddly shaped pieces everytime. So I needed to set up more of my tanks bioactive, so I bought the 10L bag of hydroton. I must say I'm impressed. First off I noticed that as far as weight, these are lighter than hydroballs. The bag i got was equal to about 4 bags of hydroballs, I was expecting the package to be heavy but to my surprise it was light. For the most part all the pieces are perfectly round and even the few that weren't, were not super oddly shaped like hydroballs. And there were only a very small amount of broken pieces. The quality is so much better and they look so much nicer than hydroballs. I highly recommend this product.
