Ian Flynn is the definitive Sonic comics writer of recent years
The arc is a side story to the Iron Dominion arc from the main comic. The story follows Sonic, Tails, Sally from Satam and comics exclusive Monkey Khan as they travel across the Dragon Kingdom meeting the heads, or 'Brides' as their called, of four Ninja clans to convince them to break away from the aforementioned dominion. Along the way we explanation for a previous character and see set up for future stories. As a fan of Ian Flynn's run on Sonic I can't recommend it enough

A perilous journey for our heroes.
Once more the brilliant Amish, Flynn and Yardley bring us another superb storyline in this issue of Sonic Universe. The overall story and the artwork throughout is amazing and what you have come to expect from this team.In this issue, to try and thwart the Iron Dominion's hold over New Mobotropolis; Sonic, Sally and Tails team up with their ally; Monkey Khan; the King of the Free People of the Dragon Kingdom, to put an end to the allegiance the Iron Dominion has over four clans, so that the Freedom Fighters have a better chance to fight back. They have some unexpected help from not only Fiona Fox and Team Destructix, who want to bring back a former member from one of the clans, but also Espio the Chameleon, after a recent fallout with Team Chaotix. The bonus short entitled 'The Roads We Take' takes place in the aftermath of the great battle with the Iron Dominion and Espio let's something slip which concerns Mighty the Armadillo. Plus there is concept art for this saga, pencil sketches, scripts and the humorous 'Off Panel' shorts.Once again an awesome addition to your Archie Sonic library. :)

Another great outing for the Sonic Scribes
For anyone looking for awesome battle scenes in this book, don't get your hopes up; this is certainly more political than the previous three. The basis of the plot is Sonic and co go to the Dragon Kingdom to try and weaken the Iron Dominion's homeland in hopes of defeating them in their own home. The story is well written and makes a great change from the pun filled stories of early EARLY issues of the main series and keeps to the standards of the more recent series and the artwork is as strong as ever.My main issue, and that's more a slight setback than a major problem itself, is that 'Journey to the East' makes many nods to what is happening in the main series at this point in the timeline, so you need to look up at what has been going on between the Iron Dominion, Eggman Empire and the Freedom Fighters which is around issue 200-212 in the main series. However, do to Archie collecting their old issues into graphic novel format which requires a long wait for them to catch up.
