The fastest drive I have ever used ! And the space of 4TB is ample to work out of and store at the same time ! Just brilliant!

Worst enclosure I ever bought. Difficult to mount a drive. Some parts you need were not in the box. The heat tape is too thin and does not connect to the metal. I threw it away and bought a different brand on the same day.

I've had this 4TB thunderbolt drive for over a year. It seems to work well and I've had no problems EXCEPT in getting it setup. It took a call to tech support to get it to work with a PC. It was a hassle. I'm writing this review because I decided I needed another drive and I would have just bought another one of these. BUT I just don't want to go through the hassle of setting up another one---NOT for the price I paid for it. Surely it would be an advantage to the company to sell a version ready to use on a PC. How hard would that be? I would even pay a little more. Oh well.

I am not one to give bad reviews normally... But I bought two drives from Fantom. A 2Tb and a 4TB. I have had NO problem with the 2TB drive but am having issues with the 4TB drive. It keeps disconnecting from my Mac and sometimes even my restarts my computer. I contacted Fantom and they said it was approved for replacement. There was some delay due to them moving buildings, so it took longer than anticipated. That wasn't a big issue. The bigger issue is that they said they couldn't duplicate the issue. We went back and forth a few times, through email, and they said that it was approved for replacement anyway. When I got it back, it was formatted APFS Case Sensitive, which is fine but this was not the way it was formatted from the factory. I did this when I bought the drive. I also called the drive "FD". This drive was also called FD. (I cannot recall what it was called brand new for either of my two drives). I'm convinced that this was not replaced and they sent me the same one back mainly because I'm seeing the same issues I had with the one I sent back for replacement within 24 hours of using the drive. I have 4 other drives connected to this computer and don't have any issues. Even when I sent the 4TB Fantom back for replacement, I connected my 2TB Fantom and it had been working flawless. Once the 4TB came back, I disconnected the 2TB and put the 4TB in its place. I have, once again, responded back to the email to see if they will really replace this time. I will update this review accordingly once I get the response back.

I switched from disk-drives by Terramaster because I could only get 450MB/s, the Fantom SSD drives get 2800MB/s write and read speed. Those rates were using Blackmagic and 5GB test files. It's faster with smaller files. The hard disk drives would also go into sleep mode constantly, and I'd have to wait almost 10 seconds each time for the drive to start up before I could use it. No wait time for the Fantom SSDs. If you have Thunderbolt 3 (or 4) you will get incredible speeds. If your computer only uses USB 3.2, it's slower, but I haven't timed it that way with the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test app.
