I'm growing a whole bunch of fruit trees, and would like lots of fruit, but don't want to try climbing around on a ladder to get it. So between this, hardwood mulch, and some muriate of potash the trees are productive without the ton of vegetative growth they'd get if I were feeding them lots of nitrogen.

Every year we spend a large amount of money buying organic bone meal, and every year our livestock dogs manage to steal the bags since they love to eat bone meal. Luckily they have shown no interest at all in this TSP, which is a very affordable source of phosphorus.This TSP has in fact more phosphorus than bone meal does per spoonful. We are currently prepping our gardens for the growing season by adding one cup of TSP to each five gallon bucket of sifted compost, rice husks, and coconut coir used to top off last year’s raised beds. I am looking forward to seeing what this TSP will do for our tomatoes, eggplants, and flowerbeds this summer, and plan to add a teaspoon at the base of every plant each month or so all summer long.That said, I’ve removed a star since I really want to know the exact source of this “all-natural” phosphorus fertilizer. We’re organic gardeners, so this information is important to us.

Triple Super Phosphate is the most cost effective way to buy phosphate. If you have adequate reason to think that you have a significant deficiency in phosphate, TSP is the answer, however there are soil tests that are bogus and that will tell you that you have a severe phosphate deficiency that you might not actually have. When you select a soil test, spend some time reading up on which ones are good and which ones are mostly bogus. Dr. Shaddox at University of Kentucky says that the popular one that uses ion exchange technology (the one with the little resin capsule inside the small plastic jar) is completely bogus. This spring I had zero fruit starting on my fig trees, but had strong branch growth and healthy green leaves. I fertilize them at least 2 times a year with organic fruit tree fertilizer, but little to no fruit production. I believe that there was too much nitrogen in the soil, so I added this only fertilizer to try & promote fruit production. It worked!!

The description on the package is attractive enough: ‘high purity, fast acting, vigorous early growth, promotes root growth, produces early blooms, increases crop yields.’ I would like my plants to grow like that. Currently, my pear, apple, and peach trees are blooming. I am applying this TSP to the trees according to the instruction (important!). I am hoping for more and heathy blooms and more big fruits this summer. Later, I’ll apply to my other warm weather fruiting vegetables, e.g. melons, gourds, squashes, tomatoes, and peas/beans. I would like the manufacturer to state clearly if this is an organic fertilizer. Organic gardeners would surely appreciate this information.
