Great piece of kit , does a lot of modern day cars

No couldn’t work on my Land Rover so returned it waiting on refund

I have tried a few OBD Diagnostic tools over the last 18 months. Two of them I returned within two days of purchase because they just didn’t do what they advertised them to do. This unit is by far the best vehicle diagnostic device I have ever held in my hands. The test is always if a unit will read our motorhome. We have a VW Crafter and even the garage we use have struggle. I plugged this TK689 into the socket and it read the VIN. The dashboard instantly displayed that a Diagnostic tool was connected. The TK689 displayed the last faults that the vehicle had got/been in to the garage for. Everything that was listed, the TK689 did. Brilliant. I plugged it into a C1 that we have, all of the other devices I had and the expensive one that I purchase a couple of years ago, didn’t identify the C1. This TK689 did. I also connected to the Vitara and it read that without any effort. A friend of mine who drives a Germany car popped around today to try this TK689 on his car. The unit instantly connected, read the Vin and identified the vehicle. He ran all the tests and he concluded the best diagnostic device he’s also used. Although I did notice when he drove off, these still were no working indicators. The TK689 is good but it can’t perform miracles 😊. The unit comes in a high-quality protection case which protects the diagnostic unit and holds all the associated leads. From the moment the unit starts up the quality oozes out. The screen, menus, connectors and even the power buttons is well designed and easy to use.

Looks well-built and robust but at the same time thinner and smaller than you would expect - an 8-inch touch screen with rubber grips on the sides and a stand, and a nice hardbox with all the cables that you might need. Since it's wired it will be charging from the car so wouldn't need to worry about the battery life while running diagnostics. Lifetime updates without subscription is a big plus, something that similar products don't offer. Once connected to the car and automatically pull up the vehicle information by searching the VIN. It gives you access to 34 service procedures, access to all control modules with full live data graphing - up to 4 graphs on the screen at a time, and configurable units. The test suite has complete test coverage for everything that you can think of. Only some features requires internet access. This is a game changing device for car diagnostics.

THINKCAR Thinkscan is easy to build and it gives a fast general diagnostic. I'm using it for a while now and it never let me down, it's a must have!

I have used this on a fair few different cars so far, Mainly for friends and family but also had a couple of their friends come to me for error code clearing/diagnosis and feature activation for their cars. It doesn't take long at all to set up and comes with free firmware updates for newer car models. Being bi-directional, this is able to not only read codes but also clear them once the fault is addressed. It lasts for a long time on a charge, plenty for a few days of regular use. The device looks more or less like a tablet and feels very similar to one when you're using it. The touchscreen is responsive to touch, slight delay sometimes when it's interfacing with the vehicle but that's what I expected. The display itself again looks very "android" like and also gives a good clear display of what's going on. The device offers great value for money and provides professionals & beginners with the functionality to diagnose issues and change features on vehicles.

It's pricey but it is worth it. I tried this on a few om my vehicles that already had known faults and it correctly picked up on each of them. The build quality seems excellent, as is the protective case. Overall, very happy with it and would recommend to any mechanic, although the price may be out of reach of home users.
