Works great, you don’t need a minimum number of batteries at one time to charge them, some chargers will only charge if you have 2 or 4 batteries in them minimum. With this one you can charge 1 battery if you need to. The main electronic device I need to charge batteries for uses 3 aa batteries so this feature is great. Does take a while to charge though. (But I believe nimh batteries need to charge slowly so I guess it’s a good thing, but seeing as you can charge 18 batteries at once, it doesn’t matter as I do have many spare batteries). Also has a discharge function which helps maintain battery performance.

This charger works great and is very easy to use. It's almost foolproof if there's such a thing. We love that we don't have to buy new batteries all the time and throw old ones away. The convenience of it would be enough, but we're also saving money and trashing fewer batteries. We're happy.

I purchased these along with the 12 pack of "high drain" AA and AAA batteries since rechargeable batteries seem to work better with the same company's products. As expected with anything that contains or transmits energy, the batteries and the charger itself does get warm but not hot. I really like the discharging option to further the life/use of your batteries and the LCD display of the charging batteries is a plus. The smart technology that protects against over-charging, over-heating, and reverse polarity because I have 2 dogs at home that I love like my own family and it puts my mind much more at ease when I'm out and they're home alone. As a smart battery charger it can recognize if there's a battery in a slot or not, so you can pop in batteries any way you want. It's also numbered and divided into two sections going from 1 to 8 for both. There was also a little flier inside of the package of their customer support's email and phone number so you can get help, just thought that was nice. As I have just newly received this product and it's for batteries that are supposed to last years, I will continually update this review of my findings.

The reviews made this sound like a reliable combo for rechargeable batteries. However, most of the batteries, and I mean more than half, won't charge after only four or five charges. The charger just shows an attempt to charge and then stops charging that battery. Sometimes I can move that battery to a different slot and then it'll charge but most of the time it just fails to charge no matter what slot I put it in. I'm not sure if it's the batteries or the charger that are bad or at least don't live up to the hype. I'm wondering how many of the reviewers posted updates after recharging the batteries multiple times. Probably very few. I'm looking for a different brand charger to see if it'll charge the batteries that won't charge on the Tenergy charger. However, most battery charger manufacturers only warrant recharging batteries of their own brand. If these Tenergy batteries are only going to last four or five charges, what's the point? I won't be buying any more of their products. I should add that this charger charges my Amazon Basics AA batteries just fine but I've only charged them twice so far. I've also successfully charged an Eneloop AA battery multiple times so maybe it's the Tenergy batteries which would suck because that was the larger investment and means these go into the landfill sooner than they should.
