Clean cutoff in reflector housings with some caveats
Probably the best retrofit on the market right now. Buy it if you want brighter headlights but don't want to blind everyone else on the road. Many of the cheaper retrofit LEDs don't have the correct geometry and absolutely should not be used in reflector housings. One of the headlights burnt out on my 2004 Honda CRV, so I figured it was time to look for a brighter replacement that doesn't burn out after a year like those higher output halogens do. Since I would be placing LEDs within halogen reflector housings, I absolutely had to find a LED replacement with a clean cutoff line to avoid blinding oncoming traffic. Since the Ultinons are approved for use in specific tested halogen reflectors within the EU, I figured I would give them a try despite the higher price compared to it's chinese counterparts. INSTALLATION: Due to the compact design of the Ultinon Pro6000 Gen 2, installation is as easy as replacing a halogen bulb within your existing housing. The weather boot for my headlights easily fit over the end of these bulbs without any modification or dangling wires from pigtails. AIMING: When installing LED replacements into halogen housings, EVERYONE should attempt to aim their headlights to make sure the cutoff is at the proper height. Daniel Stern Lighting is a wonderful resource for figuring what kind of housing you have and for instructions on how to aim them properly. PERFORMANCE: After aiming, the hotspot directly in front of the car is definitely brighter. The cutoff as shown in the image is nearly perfect with minimal haloing above the cutoff line near the center. My left headlight is aftermarket, so its beam pattern doesn't match the OEM housing on the right. My car doesn't have DRLs or CANBUS to detect a burnt bulb, but no visible flickering was observed even after the bulbs warmed up. The bulbs themselves seem to be well made with a solid aluminum housing that doubles as a heatsink. I've only had them installed for a couple months so its long term longevity remains to be seen. THE CAVEATS: Although the hotspot directly in front of the car is brighter, the amount of light shed on the road in front of the car seems to be reduced compared to halogens. This is probably because the LEDs are only present on the left and right side, with the PCB sandwiched in-between. There is also visible hot spotting on the road directly in front of the car visible in brighter environments, but it evens out better in darker environments. The internal fan blows the heat generated from the LEDs to the front of the headlight, but I don't live in a climate cold enough to test whether this is enough heat to prevent snow or ice buildup during winter driving. Hopefully someone else can comment on this.

They work great!
Used these in a 2014 Tacoma -- they work great. Didn't even have to re-aim my headlights. I wanted something that wouldn't burn out constantly that also wouldn't blind oncoming traffic and due to the similar light pattern to the regular incandescent bulbs, these work perfectly. Not sure how long they'll last just yet but for the price and performance, I'm pretty happy with them. Dot legal is nice too!
