Used it a few times now. Very solid and well built. Locks down and secures in pick and shovel mode. Handle length is a little short but not bad for the size it is. Easily stores away in my jeep. Easy to assembly as well. Overall great tool, seriously!!

Have not used it real word conditions yet, but it feels sold and is quick to get extended for use. Comes in a quality heavy duty storage bag. It really is compact. Great addition to my emergency supply kit to store in SUV

This review is for the "Ultimate 31" Survival Shovel" model. It's as solid as I expected. But just be forewarned: The shovel head is tiny...just over 4" wide and 5" long. If you need to move a lot of snow or sand with this, it's going to take a long time. I got the 31" version because the smaller versions seemed too short, and because I liked the idea of the additional tools provided in the handle sections. But those are a bit disappointing. The whistle is not very loud, and a standard steel striker is not provided for use with the ferro rod. The manufacturer video shows using the shovel head blade as a striker, which I found quite awkward. But I really like how small it is when packed up in the included pouch, and feel like it will definitely work if/when I ever need an emergency shovel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tough, Compact, and Surprisingly Versatile The RHINO USA folding shovel is built like a tank. I bought it for off-roading and emergency use, but it’s come in handy for way more than that — camping trips, digging out of mud, even breaking up frozen ground in winter. The carbon steel feels solid and heavy-duty, not like the flimsy ones you find at big box stores. The folding design makes it super compact, and it fits perfectly in the back of my Jeep. It also comes with a tough carrying case, which is a nice bonus. The pick feature is awesome for breaking up tough soil or rocky ground. I’ve used it to dig fire pits, clear brush, and even clean sand around my tires. It handles all of it with no problem. If you’re into off-roading, camping, or just want a solid emergency tool for your car, this shovel is 100% worth it. Feels like a tool I’ll have for years.

Just received this Rhino USA Folding Survival Shovel w/Pick. I was a little skeptical before purchasing, but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. First, I received it in 3 days; almost a week before the estimated arrival date. I immediately took it for a test drive digging, picking and sawing in a section of my yard that has a mix of dirt, small rock, small roots and intermediate oak tree roots (1" - 2" ). I had no issue configuring the shovel as some had reported. Pretty intuitive - plus, instructions are included; which I saw afterwards ;) The spade dug well. Although small relative to a regular shovel (I knew that before purchasing) it did real well digging through the mix of dirt, small rocks and small roots. I did not expect to dig/push through the intermediate roots and I was right. Based on reviews I did not expect much from the saw teeth either. The teeth on the end of the spade are scalloped and did not do much on the intermediate roots. The teeth on the one side of the spade, however, are better than I thought from the reviews. They are not great, but can be useful in an emergency in lieu of any other better cutting tool. I cut half way through a 1.5" root in about a minute (not efficient, but can make it work). The pick worked well for me doing its job picking through the mix. I can see how it could be broken though as others reported if used to pry something substantial with the leverage of the handle (so I'm not going to try that unless in an emergency situation). I had no trouble with the locking collar so far (hope dirt/sand does not get in the collar threads and make it difficult as some reported). I used this 10 - 15 minutes and only on the side saw teeth did any paint slightly wear off exposing metal. Will monitor for rust. Bottom line: I think this will be perfect as an emergency tool in my truck and I will also likely use for light yard work where the typical tools are overkill. Hope I do not have to use customer service for this tool, but based on the reviews, I think I can expect a good response (and another reason I decided to buy).

This shovel has been hanging in my jeep for several years now. Ive used it in sand, snow, and dirt. The handle is strong, the joints and hinges are in good shape, still tightens down and working great! The bag is torn where the point of the shovel rests on it (bouncing in the jeep wore it out). But gorilla tape is doing the job.

Very good quality, sturdy little shovel. Got it for my brothers off roading rig & it has got him out of a few binds already! I just wish it were a bit longer as it’s quite a drop to bend down to use it, but it’s worth it for the price!
