Ok but has incorrect details
Can be done well if time is taken I took a mould of the impulse crystal with clay the made a cast with epoxy to get a clear part, and added details to the torpedo bay with model filler. If you are a purest incorrct details may be a deal breaker for you

More work than I expected
I enjoy modelling and by no stretch claim to be an expert. But this kit needs a fair bit of work to look right. The primary hull fitting for the nacelles are off centre from the saucer neck. I know some fitting is usually needed for some some kits but this an old one that hasn't been corrected for A while. Looks good when complete, although some of the decals are a little too strong in colour, stand out too much, had to paint these on.

The new is also then old.
Those of you who know your Trek kits will know all about this venerable old lady of a kit. For those who do not, it was originally produced around the time of Star Trek The Motion Picture. In its original release the hull was completely smooth, a feature more representative of the filming prop used. There was some rudimentary lighting parts and no shuttle. Also supplied were some rather fetching 70's shiny stickers for the warp drive nacelles that never appeared again.Enter "Wrath of Khan" and a far better film that revives the Trek fortunes requires a rerelease and so the masters of plastic oblige but formsome reason the manufacturer decided to go and and add engraved panel lines to the kit, big chunky trench like ones in random panels that bear no resemblance to the "Aztec" panel paint detail on the prop and this has caused issues since then with this kit as many hate the lines and fill them in. After parts 3, 4, 5 and ending on 6 the same kit was repoped with altered decals, the addition of a ST5 shuttle that is way out of scale and bits and bobs. This kit here is essentially the same kit as released in '82 with WOK but in the ST5 and ST6 configuration, with the shuttle. There is a nice touch in that the original horrid stand has been done away with and a dome with metal rod stand has been added. For many years this was the biggest Enterprise Refit kit available so basically the only game in town until the long awaited 1:350 scale kit from polar lights put this old lady on the back burner. But its still popular, and still sells for decent money with collectors so this new release should please folk who want another go at her but not pay collectors prices. As afore mentioned this is exactly the same kit as ever, same inaccuracies in hull, sensors and bridge structure but after all these years there are aftermarket parts readily available so basically swap out the dud parts. There is a nice new decal sheet that looks to be very well printed and bynthe looks of it, the airlock ring markings fit properly this time! Good to see this kit available again as its a real nostalgia piece for us but I would have liked to see some retooling as was done on the USS Reliant 1:537 a while back.
