A good foam cutter, instructions lacking but good value and capable
The media could not be loaded. I've been keen to get hold of a foam cutter for a while as I've made a number of cushions and had to use a knife to cut the foam into shape. This arrives needing a bit of assembly, and unfortunately the instructions aren't particularly helpful. For example they don't show how to insert the wire, or where to attach the screws on the base. Fortunately it's mostly intuitive, I did however find that on initial attempts to use it, the wire didn't heat up. I used an infrared thermometer to check the temperature and it didn't warm at all, although the power light was on. Checking the underside I found that I'd not fully tightened the screw on the left (see photo) and once this was done it started buzzing, indicating that there was power getting to the wire.I also found the lack of advice on wire tension a tad annoying. I tried trimming the edge of a foam cushion and twice broke the wire (see video). I realised that I had over tightened it and it needs to be a lot looser. Fortunately the top spool contains 5m of wire, so the 20cm I lost during initial testing shouldn't be an issue. Once working it cut through my foam with ease, and didn't leave any burns or scorching. The guides are easy enough to fix and understand, but again there's nothing in the instructions on how to attach or use the round foam cutting adaptor. I tracked this information from the photos in the product listing. The lack of instruction detail is a shame, as it really wouldn't have taken a lot of effort to have included a more comprehensive manual. However, now it's been used a few times I'm confident in it's abilities and at £90 I think this is decent value. It will get plenty of use in the coming months.

Easy to use
The media could not be loaded. This hot wire cutter is used to cut most kinds of foam, from polyester to Styrofoam and others. All the components come sealed in a cardboard box, but loose, so items are stored below the wire cutting platform itself. The instructions included are not the best on explaining how to attach the wire arm, but with a little common sense can be set up in a few minutes.Once you manage to thread the wire through the table which is the trickiest part, it's plain sailing and tensioning the wire is easy.Switching on the table is easy, simply plug in and flip the switch to position 1, as position 2 is for foot pedal operation which is not included. The wire cutter will not heat in position 2 unless a foot pedal is connected. It is possible.to adjust the temperature of the wire with the adjustable dial. The wire heats up super quick. It's possible to cut various thicknesses of foam easily on the table, which has grid lines for accurate cutting. You can change the angle of the cutting wire for any angle cut, or just free hand.Included in the kit is an adjustable handle guide.Overall for the price which was £99 at time of review is great. It's all good quality compone.ts and solidly made, so very happy

Both great and bad at the same time
Mixed feelings about this. I bought one and the quality was amazing. It was sturdy and the cutting guide rail firm. It did however quickly block in the wire nozzle and I had to replace it. The replacement was a whole other story, the cutting platform is lower than the guides and the rail won't secure properly. It's awful build quality in comparison. So I guess it's a gamble. Overall though the cutting performance of 5cm XPS foam is incredible. I'd say try it and send it back if you get a lemon

Not as advertised
There was no spool of spare wire and it doesn’t say anywhere about having to get the foot switch separately. Quite disappointed with that. Other than that it does the job.

A not too complicated for me!
I got this as I thought it would be a useful tool to add to my crafting materials.Unfortunately, even with the instructions working it out took some time and I haven’t really got a clue what I’m doing. It’s quite a big and bulky item as well, so not one which can be easily stored away. The foam I did get it to cut was a clean cut, so it does appear to work well, but I wasn’t able to test it out doing anything circular.

Can cut foam precisely and consistently
The media could not be loaded. This wire cutter is easy to set up, during transportation all the parts are stored inside the table base. The table top is made of metal with measurment markings for cutting accurately. It heats up in seconds and the top mount of the cutting wire allows up to 45 degree bevel cut.The fence/guide is crude and have a bit of wobble but it does serve the purpose of aiding repeat cut consistently. I have no issue cutting different density foam with the cutter, when cutting thick dense foam I use the max heat of level 6 by turning the heating adjustment knob. The wire does get a bit slack when heated up to the max, this will need to be adjusted when the wire is warm etc.The wire tension adjustment can be a bit fiddley when a bevel cut is needed, other than that this is a good cutter for anyone who need to cut foam precisely.
