Included a QR code to download app which had video guiding you through putting together, but also text instructions. * Nice simple design * Taking care of plants is pretty straightforward—and literally because you don’t have to bend down to the ground like with regular plants * The silver button is nice for when you have to turn off the lights for maintenance. Some people think the light is too bright—and buckle up for that first time because it’ll make you wonder if your eyelids still work—but we like it. Often we don’t even turn on the overhead lighting in that room. But it’s a nice hue anyway. * Most of the maintenance is pretty simple, a bit intimidating at first but easy to pick up. * The Timelapse feature is really cool. * My husband actually put a struggling succulent on the Gardyn’s base to soak up some of the light and it’s improved! * We wouldn’t be able to grow this variety of plants without it. * No dirt * At the risk of stating the obvious, it’s so cool to be able to grow small amounts of plants at home. I was making scrambled eggs with goat cheese and wanted to add basil but we didn’t have any dried basil in the cabinet—so my husband just harvested me a little basil from the Gardyn, and the eggs were delicious. Cons * The app isn’t as tailored as it seems to be in the videos. For instance it doesn’t actually tell you which plants need attention; it just says like “time to trim your plants” and gives you a general article about pruning, but to find out more about your specific plants you have to find their details separately and it doesn’t even bookmark what your current plants are. This would definitely be a helpful feature to add! It seems like it should do this because it has cameras and sensors and an AI assistant. * The subscription is kind of expensive; they make it worth it but it’s just a bit of a pricier upkeep than we originally realized. But you can grow as few or as many as you want (well up to 16 for this model) at a time. * The temperature and humidity sensor appears to be at the back of the base and not where the plants are actually growing, which is kind of weird.

I purchased this for my wife for Christmas, it looks like a great family project. Right off the bat, there was no plant food included in the box. Not a huge deal as you don’t have to add it for a few weeks, and there was a QR code for a free bottle. Not gonna complain about it, just something to be aware of. Assembly was super easy. I had it up and running in under a half hour. Everything is well made and engineered. Pretty impressive actually. I wanted something aesthetically pleasing in our home, and we’ve gotten many positive comments. We’re at three weeks right now and only have one pod that hasn’t sprouted. Looking forward to our first harvest.

Gardyn is truly amazing. I did my research on different systems, read the reviews and decided to give Gardyn 4.0 a shot. I have not been disappointed. The product arrived in perfect condition. The packaging was solid, the various parts were held firmly in place and everything was where it should be. It's what you'd expect from quality product. The unpacking was easy and the instructions on setup were great. I highly recommend using the UR code to link to the setup videos. They are each about a minute long and they make the whole thing super simple. Once everything was in place I plugged it in and connected to my wifi. They recommend waiting about 5 minutes the first time you turn it on. After that it took about 2 minutes to go through the process to connect to wifi and I was done. A few tips to make the initial setup easy. Each of the plant pods (they call yCubes) has a position the Gardyn for optimal growing. You can find charts in the app or on their site that will help you place the plants in the perfect spot. They also have a AI system called Kelby. This system does basically everything for you. It turns the lights on/off, waters the plants when they need it and will tell you when to fertilize. I do not have a green thumb so this is perfect for me. It really is a set it and forget it system. I did make a small change on when the lights turned on and off but other than that they are managing the growing. The seeds started to grow in less than a week. I'm a few weeks in and the plants are getting bigger and I will post a picture when everything is ready to harvest. It really is a fun system and I can't wait to have my first salad and tomatoes. The quality of this product does not justify its price whatsoever. Assembly is very simple and yet one of the two cameras did not work when fully assembled. Additionally, on top of the ridiculous product cost, the membership runs between $28-$39/mo depending on your plan (The plan features do not differ. The price difference is to charge more for shorter durations). This point is more subjective, however, I found that the offered vegetables/herbs were quite boring. Of course, you could always use their app to buy additional veggies and herbs at a ridiculous fee. TLDR: If you have unlimited funds, this product is mediocre at best. Otherwise, go with a less greedy company that’s actually rooted in the passion of horticulture.

Works really well and it’s a constant flow of veggies to harvest. The system is very easy to setup and and link to the app. The app did keep defaulting to another time zone so it was turning the lights on and off at odd hours of the day but once that was updated and saved, it’s been working great. Some of the plants that come with the starter set aren’t the most common ones but they have all grown very well.

I purchased this with the help of my district to use in my life science classroom! It is amazing! The students love it. They are interested in the correlating lessons, the application/ integration of content being taught and best of all, it is relevant, and they have a relatable approach to the content! The set up was simple. Very straight forward and took roughly 20 minutes. As soon as we added water and turned on the Gardyn, it blinked and began doing its thing! I have since divided up my students to various vegetables and flowers that came with the Studio. My students have become like mother hens, watching their babies grow from seeds and germination to their current adolescent phase lol. Maintenance is easy. We use bottle brushes to scrub the tubes and inside the holes of the unit. We've only had to wash out the inside once and it was super simple to lift the pump, remove the lid with columns attached. Students scrubbed the reservoir, added fresh water and nutrients and we were off again! I cannot say enough about the Studio. I already have other teachers inquiring and looking to put in their classrooms also!
