Dark Cloud

This game is actually fun to play, but if you get car or sea sick, then maybe don't get this one. The character bobbles around freely and the game screen spins freely also. I can only play it for about 30 minutes before I am about to get sick.

This game at it's core is a fantasy based JRPG (Japanese Roll Playing game) with Zelda style lock on based combat. If you haven't played this game yet you're doing yourself a serious disservice. It is challenging but not impossible. It's a game that takes itself very seriously but still doesn't forget to make you laugh on occasion, and ultimately the story of the game (which draws on true love as a constant inspiration) is just mind-blowingly good. This is one of the only games that has made me experience the full gambit of emotions, and if only for the story alone you should play this game. I suppose I should state it's faults as well as just to remain objective. The combat while normally crisp does suffer a bit due to a lack in player mobility, while most of the game's dialogue is well translated I did find just a bit of broken English that shows not all was correctly translated and due largely to a missing item in the games code there are a few exploitable game breaking glitches (most famously the Broken-Dagger glitch). The biggest fault of this game however is also one of it's biggest boons. The game's dungeons are all randomly seeded, this means that every time you enter a floor of a dungeon (excluding event floors like the boss chamber) it has a unique layout (boosting the replay value), but other than the Gallery of Time tend to feel too similar and can become somewhat tedious. for those who care solely about audio and graphics you're in for a treat as every area outside of the dungeons, again, other than the Gallery of Time,are beautiful to the point of jaw dropping, and though the game reuses certain tracks it is nearly impossible to notice as they blend flawlessly with whatever's happening in the story. This may be THE BEST GAME for the PS2 in spite of it's flaws. Play it...

I first heard of Dark Cloud fourteen years ago when my cousin didn't sleep because he was playing it nonstop. We were 8 at the time! In 2010, my sister received Dark Cloud 2 as a gift from someone and we loved it. Recently, I was looking for a new game to play and found a new Dark Cloud 1 for cheap on Amazon! So, I purchased it and can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.Dark Cloud is extremely addicting, and I found myself doing the same as my cousin did so many years ago -- staying up all night because every time I finished a stage of a dungeon, I found more villagers and materials to rebuild my town. The game has very addicting gameplay as a result. It can get very repetitive, but finding more atla (as they're called in the game) and leveling up weapons keeps you coming back.My only gripe with the game is the story. It's very broken up and odd how characters go from one part to the next. It's almost entirely illogical, and lines of the story are just dropped without a word. Also, lots of foreshadowing occurred and none of it actually happened at the end of the game. Dark Cloud 2 did a better job of this, so I'm glad to see that that was improved upon in the sequel.Regardless, the game was still excellent, hence why I give it 4.5, leaning towards 5. The rest of the experience does make up for its downfalls. I suggest Dark Cloud to any gamer whom likes RPGs and/or action-adventure!

Being a fan of this game for a long time now, I was disappointed by the amount of bad reviews it got- especially since most of those reviews seems to be people wishing this game was something else. My philosophy: If you want Zelda, play Zelda. If you want Dark Cloud, play Dark Cloud.While Zelda-ish in a few qualities, both games have separate things to enjoy. Personally, I like the town building puzzle aspect of DC, and it was something I missed in DC2 and something Zelda doesn't touch on. While Zelda has a better story, this game isn't all about the story and has plenty of other things to offer to make up for its weak and sometimes poorly translated plot.Grinding can be a big part of the game, but you can minimize that by making sure you clear each dungeon each time you go in. And there is enough loot to be gathered that the grinding you inevitably need to do seems less annoying. The music can be monotonous, but for the first 5 hours, it's fun ^^ Creatures have a good variety, and the fishing "mini game" is something you can break up game play with that actually has a benefit for the overall game.Overall, I love this game, and I think everybody should play it- as long as they aren't HARDCORE I ONLY PLAY ZELDA people. If it was a Zelda game, they would have said so in the Title.

Had to clean the disk off and the lens of my playstation but it works just fine now.

My childhood collection is complete

wow i love this game! its been years since i played dark cloud and i still enjoy it just as much its just phenomenal. very classic rpg and the story is even better, product came as described but what i loved the most and what i really didnt expect is how great the condition of the disc is, damn near scratch free if not scratch free. my only complaint is both case and manul were pretty dirty when arrived, the case was really dusty and light weight sticky and the manuel was stiff and very sticky like someone drenched it in juice but i still managed to clean it pretty well overall im very happy with my purchase.😋

I loved playing this game as a kid and was really happy to buy this and be able to play it again! Love it! Was a little put off at first because I have a PS3 and of course assumed it could play the game. Only to find out that the 'new' fat model of the PS3 that had been refurbished that my parents got me didn't do PS2 games. But, luckily my super old PS3 handled the game perfectly and was compatible.

Game was in excellent condition. Everything was there, I started playing, and it took me right back too my teenage years. One of the best games I ever played for the PS2!
