It has good quality for coffee distribution. It is easy to clean without any hassle, lightweight, and offers great functionality for the money you spend.

I struggled to decide how to "evaluate" this product appropriately and have finally settled on 5 stars. The issues I have are probably more personal so read on and see what I mean.I have been using this distribution tool exclusively for nearly 3 months now. As a vine user I feel like I need to run products through their paces before posting just an initial impression. With that said, it has performed well this whole time and I have yet to break one of the needles - which thankfully it comes with a set of them.Initially I liked the design of a chess piece. Then, when I first started using it I ran into some concerns. First, the opening on top is quite narrow, so you need to pay attention when placing it back. While I have misaligned it a few times, I have yet to break one of those pins.It is nice that the bottom unscrews so that coffee particles can be cleaned up. It "feels" like dropping it into the holder helps "clean" it a bit before next use.In the picture you can see how it looks disassembled. The pins are basically held in place through a pressure plate (see the spring). Removing or replacing them did not seem too daunting but does require a bit of finess holding it all and putting it together.Overall, it does what it does and it works. I still like the design but I was a bit disappointed that it did not fit into one of the holes when I got a coffee station. So this works best (and looks best) free standing near your machine. I see different prices for this kind of tool, but since this is mostly metal parts, and comes with spare needles, I think the current price is good.

Nice WDT tool. Looks like a chess piece while in the holder, which is interesting. But it does the job and helps keep my coffee area looking organized.

So any review of a WDT tool needs to be grounded in a discussion of WDT in general. So WDT tool is going to solve issues with channeling from using a low quality grinder or tamper. That being said, espresso can be an expensive hobby where minor improvements to equipment can drive massive cost increases. WDT tools subvert that trend, being a niche tool that you never need to spend much on.If you're looking to replace your toothpick or paperclip, this is a fine option at a reasonable price.It's seems reasonably well made, with no major manufacturing blemishes. The satin black finish means it looks right at home at my coffee station.One thing to note, at 0.4 mm the needles are at the upper limit of what's recommended for WDT. I found the 10 needles configuration out of the box moved the coffee around more than it broke up clumps. I reduced the configuration to 5 needles and I'm very happy with it. It's very easy to remove and replace needles.It comes with plenty of replacement needles (especially if you remove 5) but the needles are 1mm if you want to experiment with different diameter needles.
