What size is the gap between the shelf?

Hi, it's 11 inches without the glass shelf. 5.5 inches either side of the glass shelf.

Would tv stand fit a 55 inch flat screen?

I have a 42 inch tv on ours which fits perfect a 55 inch I think would hang over the edge of stand quite a bit either side.

I have a 48 inch would it be a good fit,
