Ominous rattle from cardboard box when delivered but it was merely the nut from the bottom of the pendulum that had escaped its little box. Once it was levelled the clock started up straightaway and after a few days of tightening up the aforementioned nut to speed up the time it has behaved very well. The bell is very soft. I had considered the identical looking Acctim clock from John Lewis at £180 but after checking with a friendly horologist who rated Hermle kit I opted for this - and saved a lot of money.

Wasn't sure what to expect but I like it, wouldn't rely on its time keeping as it's just a basic clock, gained 10 minutes today but I'm in the possess of adjusting the pendulum so I'm sure it will become more accurate, I bought it really as an ornament that ticked, if you want accuracy but a quartz clock of spend a few thousand on a better movement, the bell comes off easy if you want to disable the chime, I just stuck a bit of thin rubber on the bell so it doesn't wake me in the night, the tick isn’t that loud either so it’s fine in a bedroom, one thing of note is the pendulum runs close to the clock face, so if the put it on a surface that makes the clock lean forward a tiny amount the pendulum could rub on the clock face and stop, this happened to me but I was able to bend the face out at the bottom a tiny amount so it works fine now, or you could get a spirit level and make sure the surface is dead level!

Clock looks really good on a marble mantle. Pendulum is poor design. This made of lead with 2 brass disks stuck on with contact adhesive. Mine were loose in the box !. Had to use clear tape to hold them on. As there is only 2mm clear at front and rear of pendulum, clock MUST be on level surface. The feet can be unscrewed to level up. This is not in the instructions !. May take few days to regulate, but is quite easy. Better pendulum and worth 5 stars.

Very nice clock, ticked (no pun intended) all the boxes for me.Good clear face and gentle chime on the hour and the soothing "tick tock" was everything I needed.Clock ajustment can be a bit fiddly just got to keep trying different amount of turn to get it just right; also make sure the surface it stands on is level.Very impressed.

Rubbish. Could not get it to keep correct time. Lost about 5 minutes per hour. Tried to regulate it with no luck it either stopped or lost more time. Now renegated to cupboard would not recommend

High quality mantle clock that has a good weight to it.I am very pleased with purchase.

Arrived earlier than quoted time.. a beautiful looking mantle clock which I ordered as a gift for father who collects clocks ..had a wind up key and was the perfect size
