Not totally quiet, but def quiet enough to not be bothersome and allow some energy expenditure! It bounces like a regular basketball, can still manage tricks, bother a sibling and play keep away! They now use baskets throughout the house and it’s a free for all basketball game. We bought the size 7 for my 15 y/o. No flat spots yet, has a bit of weight to it so not just bouncing an airball. All in all, a great find and a great gift!

I’m a dad and former basketball player so I know the addiction to the game. But you know what I can’t stand? Hearing a ball bouncing constantly when I’m trying to work or relax around the house. Parents, we love our kids and will do anything for them. But there are rare occasions where we don’t need to sacrifice because there is a win-win opportunity. This is your moment. From the parent’s perspective, this is just as advertised. I live in a home with wood floors and high ceilings so there is a lot of echo. This ball is sniper-silent. My daughter can bounce this on the floor, a wall, a ceiling, it doesn’t matter. It is silent. I also have a rescue dog with anxiety who is terrified of bouncing balls and things being thrown. She will play fetch with anything but a ball. She is NOT scared of this ball which is absolutely amazing. For the kids, this ball bounces pretty true. For reference, I’m 6’5 and a former player and I can say, it bounces much better than I expected, especially at lower heights. Dribble this low like you’re being pressured bringing the ball up the court and it’s spot on. Dribble it standing straight up like you’re talking to a cheerleader on the sidelines and you’ll get a bounce here and there that will make you look like a fool. (Actually, that might teach good lessons as a free bonus) As a dad and a player I highly recommend this! In fact, if they had this when I was a kid, I may have been grounded less! May… If you have a kid who loves to play or is starting out, don’t hesitate. It’s a great value for the money and it’s a lot of fun for the kids too. It increases activity and allows them to sharpen skills without thinking about it. Pair it with a good indoor net, and they’ll be better players and maybe get off the couch a little more!

The foam basketball does not bounce. To get the ball to bounce at even 70% height you have to use a substantial amount of force with each dribble. It is not like playing with a regular basketball at that point, it is legitimately like throwing a ball full force at the ground every time for it to even make it back to your palm. And when you are using that much force on the ball just to make it bounce poorly, physics dictates that unless there’s been a breakthrough in new materials with magical sound properties, there is going to cause an equally forceful sound. Basically when it bounces as high as a basketball, it was making close to or as much noise as a regular basketball. If you are looking for a replacement for a basketball that dribbles softly, this is not the product for you. If you want a rough foam ball that has no coating and a paint job to look like a basketball, this is the product for you.

It is a basketball made from a dense sponge so it has some weight and bounce to it. It bounces fine on hard wood, not quite as much as a regular basketball but good enough to practice dribbling indoors. To my surprise, it bounces decently well on carpet too. The main reason you would buy this is for the quieter sound and vibration. You still hear a ‘puff’ sound when dribbling but it is significantly quieter than a regular basketball. Also, it is softer on the floor so you don’t have to worry about ruining your flooring or pounding on your downstairs neighbor. What it is not for is outdoor use. You will tear it apart easily. So will a dog. Water will probably ruin it too as it is a sponge. I would not use it for shooting practice either. So if you are limited in practice space and want to practice dribbling indoors when the weather outside prevents you, using this will keep other members of the household happier than listening to a real ball. They might not even notice it if you were a couple rooms away. I would probably buy it again if I didn’t have one so definitely recommend.

It is pretty quiet. And it still has a decent bounce. But one time it got swished and now it is wearing out. After that it didn’t feel quite as good. Only had it for one month. But other than that it is a nice product, but probably only worth $30 though 7.5 out of 10

This Ball that the company sent me. It’s not only bouncy quiet, but does not fall apart. perfect for inside play.
