Professional level light!
Love this! The light is powerful and we love the magnetic feature for the attachments (barn doors, diffusers, etc). The vintage look is icing on the cake!

Just OK
This a decent budget light from a brand that tries really hard to convince you that it is a premium product, however, it fails to achieve premium status. In terms of aesthetics, this light looks good; I'll give it that. From a functional standpoint, I'm struggling to find much use for it, though. The brightness is OK for a compact light. It seems about on par with a 60W light bulb. It can work all right as a fill light or a rim light, but its usability is limited due to its design. One of the advantages of these ultra-compact lights is being able to stick them anywhere, however this light just isn't designed to be a "stick anywhere" light. With the screen opposite the light diode, there really isn't any way to stick it to a wall or ceiling. You're limited to what you can do with the 1/4 20 mount and whatever adapter you are able screw the light onto. Essentially having to always put it on some kind of stand, takes away from its compact size and diminishes its value in this regard. You can't run the light at over 50% brightness without turning the fan on (which you have to do manually). At this price, I would expect the fan to be temperature-controlled and not have to run 100% of the time whenever the brightness is over 50%. The fan noise is not the quietest, but not the loudest either. As long as the fan is at least 6 ft away from any mics you should be OK in most situations. However, this becomes a problem because the light isn't very bright. At 6 ft away your ability to use this light, even as just a fill light, is starting to become limited. This light also comes with a proprietary and not inexpensive battery. I would have preferred to see a more universal option given that this brand does not yet seem to be well-established, and I wouldn't be confident in investing a lot of money into their system at this stage. The app is simple but does work well, and the quality of the light and its temperature range is good, albeit not super bright. This isn't a bad light by any means, but I think it is a little too expensive for what it offers. It needs to be better designed to allow you to take advantage of its compact size and have more options for mounting it to various surfaces. If this light was about $50 cheaper I would give it more praise and say that despite its limitations you can find some uses for it if you are willing to get a little creative. But, given where it sits at $160 (at the time of my order), I would expect to have more power and/or better temperature control and/or more versatile mounting options. It is hard for me to recommend this light knowing that you can get much more powerful compact lights for not a lot more money. I would consider the Zhiyun Molus X60 to be a far brighter and far superior light in every way except for size. Since this light fails to take advantage of its compact size, though, I just don't see a lot of use for it.If Hobolite comes out with a v2 that has better mounting options and a better fan, I think they could have a very good offering at the $160 price point, but as it stands right now, this is just a "meh" product that is priced too high for what it is.

Great package
Their customer service team is great. It’s a very small light, but it’s a perfect companion for your travel sized setup. I really want to buy a second one!

A Very Nice Light
Overall, this light is very nice, and the construction is superb. All the extras that come with it are great! that only thing I question on this light is their choice for a V Mount on the bottom rather than something more common, like a cold shoe mount. This move just about requires you to purchase their mounting system, which I'm not a big fan of that kind of business tactic. If that one thing doesn't bother you much, than Hobolite might be the brand you are looking for.

One of the most beautifully design products I've used
I'm a photographer and filmmaker and have to admit that I am a collector of small LED lights and have most brands. Shooting a lot of macro photography and diorama scenes. Most of the LED lights are similar to the others with little creativity or thought put into engineering the lights so they're easy to use. The Hobolite Iris (Black Jungle edition - beautiful!) is the most gorgeous product I've had in my hand in a long time. Not only is it a gorgeous product but the controls for it are thought out far better than any of the other lights I own. I could understand the light perfectly in a few minutes of just fooling around with it. The app works flawlessly. I just bought another Iris and probably will get the larger version of the Iris, the Micro.
