Excellent tool. We had to use this to drain a few gallons of water from a heater to change the anode. Without it, would not be possible, the valve was clogged. You don't need high pressure from a compressor, we cleared the valve just using a tire inflator. Yes, you should be replacing your water heater anode every 7-8 years to prevent scale and tank corrosion.

So did not realize you can use a bike pump to blow air in it. Work just fine. A plumber came and never heard of it and used it. Really helped clean up the crud after 13 years of not being drained. Fit well and super easy to put on.

So freaking easy to use! We tried emptying our 15 year old water heater for the first time. It just dripped. Bought this read the instructions, hooked up a floor pump and pew, the water flowed. Anytime the water started to slow down draining, a blast from the floor pump and off to the races again. It is very easy to use. Definitely a must for home owners.

Once attached, it provides a tight seal and in conjunction with a air compress creates alot of bubbles 🫧 to clean the water.

If you have an old nasty water heater and you want to knock the sediment from the bottom loose and drain it, this is a great help. However, you may not need this. You can probably break loose sediment by turning on your cold water when the heater is mostly empty. But it does work - you can use a compressor or any air inflator to push air into your heater to dislodge sediment. I think this would be a necessity for a heater that has a heavy sediment accumulation. An added benefit for all maintenance scenarios is the clear window that allows you to see how dirty the water is as it comes out. It's well-made, not cheap junk - though plastic, it is high quality and should last a long time.
