ANOTHER UPDATE 10/23/22I wanted to leave one more update to say that since leaving my update on 4/8/22, I've been to Germany, and this hair tool worked great over there. I've also continued to use it at home daily, and it's been perfect.UPDATE 4/8/22 --After leaving the following review, I was contacted by AmoVee and subsequently sent a new, upgraded product. First, I want to commend them on excellent customer support!! For that reason alone, it would be worth potential customers who are contemplating this tool to go ahead and purchase it. If something goes wrong, they'll take care of you. Second, the upgraded tool is great. It's larger and heavier than the version I had previously, which is fine. I would call this one a "standard" size, whereas I might have called the previous one a "travel" size, but either size is workable. Additionally, this new one has an upgraded heating element which I expect to work better the next time I'm in Europe. The element in the previous version was internally regulated, meaning that I couldn't select a heat temperature or switch from high to low. In the States, I use high heat, but in Europe I generally use a lower heat setting because with their 220-240v, tools can get extremely hot if they aren't manufactured exclusively for that voltage. The new version of this tool has a temperature control setting, so while I'll use it at 430 degrees at home, I'll be able to start at 210 degrees in the E.U. and increase it if necessary. I also want to mention that my previous review stated that the metal plate on the curling iron part had fallen off the first time I had purchased the product; however, this upgraded version does seem to be more heavy-duty, and I'm not anticipating that that will be a problem with this one. Initially, I loved it. But right after the return window closed, the metal plate for the curling iron part fell off, just as other reviewers said. But I liked it so much that I decided to try again. Plus, it's dual voltage, and I had an upcoming trip to Italy, so I re-ordered. I was happy again... until 3 days into my Italy trip when it suddenly quit working. I plugged it in, and nothing... no indicator light, no heat, just nothing. And still, back in the states, there's nothing. And of course, the return window closed 2 months ago. So I wasted a lot of money on a product that should've lasted more than a couple of months.

This curler/straightener does the job!! I traveled to Europe last year for 5 weeks, and had a wedding to attend to, and this thing was the best purchase I made prior to my trip. I have really thick hair and even though this is shorter than normal curlers, it is mighty. I used this to curl my hair and my boyfriend's mom's hair before the wedding and it worked so well. It's extremely easy to pack, and I love the case that it comes in because you can put it in there while it's still hot if you're in a rush to pack up, and not be worried since it has heat protection. Seriously if you are a traveler and a person that likes to do their hair or you have an event, this is a must-have for traveling light.

Love that this 2 in 1 curling iron/straightener is compact. I needed to purchase a new curling iron after 15 years of using my old one and I purchased one on Amazon but it didn’t hold my “curl”, so I started shopping again and came across 2 in 1 hair tools, which after reading reviews I was a bit skeptical buying this one but as one reviewer said “it’s Amazon prime - you can return it” so I went ahead and ordered it.It arrived early the next day and I don’t think I ever opened an Amazon box to use a product RIGHT AWAY, but I want to buy a different 2 in 1 if this one doesn’t work for me but I don't think I’ll be returning this one.It’s compact and I used it on my bangs which is mainly what I “curl” daily and based on other reviews I think I’ll be able to curl my long (thick) hair when I go out.I love the travel case (which other reviewers say isn’t heat proof) but I’ll be taking this on all of my future travels as it keeps it neat and organized.It’s a great design, you “lock” to use the curl part and “open” to use the straightener.It has an end you can hold while you curl so you don’t burn your fingers and it was easy to take the frizz out of my bangs and curl my side bangs.Love the swivel chord - my old one didn’t have one and it’s sooooo much easier to turn the barrel to get all my hair on!It has a piece on the barrel so you can set it on your counter top so the hot barrel doesn’t touch it (I just purchased a silicon hair tool holder that I’m going to use when I’m traveling if I’ve curled my hair last minute and the barrel it too hot to pack, so I’ll probably use it on my counter top too).I took off 1 star only because it has only 1 setting, which is hot (I usually use the highest heat setting on my curling iron so it probably is going to be fine for me ) but I think I’ll have to use a heat protector on my hair more often (or just switch the heat off and then back on).

This review is for the curling iron, I did not use the flat iron portion. I purchased for cruise travel. It packs small and perfect as I didn't want to take up space for 10 day cruise. It heated up nicely and gave some awesome curly curls that lasted through the evening. It's not as long as a typical iron, compact by design; I did not burn as a result, but was careful handling. I love that it's dual voltage as I will be traveling to Germany and Iceland soon and will be taking this with me. For reference my hair is medium length and thick and my go to iron is a larger barrel. This worked quick and easy to curl.
