It's easy to use.
A very nice unit, that plays DVDs fine. My new laptop does not have internal cd driver. This unit is just what I need. I can play it on my Windows 10 laptop but had to download a free DVD player app from Google store. The connecting cable is short, and as it is integral to the unit cannot be replaced with a longer lead. However, It’s good enough for me, so I’m quite happy with the purchase.

With computers and laptops no longer having built in cd/dvd drives this item is ideal
It came well packaged and it's easy to use as you just plug it into a USB port. Having very recently purchased a new laptop I have some programmes on discs so this product is ideal to load the programmes onto the laptop. In most cases it's quick although sometimes other things need loading on. Well happy with this product.

Most options are great - burning not so reliable
All the options of getting data into my laptop seem to work really well. No issues. Brilliant value for money. If this is all you need, you'll struggle to get better value. Now to burning disks.... oh.. not so good. One in about 5 burns are successful - CD or DVD. Quality Verbatim discs that burn utterly reliably in an old 2007 iMac. If you want to burn discs, try another option.

This drive does not work with my M1 Macbook Pro
Connected drive via USB 2 and USB C cables appears in Finder under 'Devices'. At this point I have changed none of the default import settings to rip a CD, as a prompt simply displayed on Apple Music "Did I want to import this CD, to which I selected Yes'. But it only imports Track 1 and throws up an error message, "Error occurred while connecting the file <Track 2 Name>. The required file cannot be found, with an OK button below. The drive stops completely and disappears from Devices on Finder, to get it back I have to unplug and replug it. I've tried this across 6 different CDs and every one does the same thing. I've tried changing the import settings and enabling auto-correction, however this has not helped. I even reset my Itunes Music Library to which it added a 'Media' folder onto the end of the 'Music' folder. Still no joy, only ripping one CD track at a time. I bought the drive six months ago with best intentions of ripping my CDs straight away onto an external hard drive but left it a bit too long before trying so can't get a refund on the faulty product.

Instructions not that clear and ad misleading
The optical reader comes with an additional power cable (shown top right of picture) which I don't understand when it would be used. I was very confused with this at first as it is not a data cable. The cable to attach to the pc or laptop is fixed and secured underneath (shown on left in picture) which you have to pull out, but it doesn't clip into place very well when connected with the pc/laptop.Forget the other things shown in the picture at the bottom of the reader - they're not included. The instructions need someone to proof read and put them into plain English that makes sense. The draw to hold the cd/dvd only opens a fraction when the In/Out button is pressed so care is needed when pulling it out fully to insert / remove the disc as it is quite flimsy. This will do for now to transfer my cds to my pc and safe storage but I would not recommend it for continuous, long term use.It is very quiet.Others have also mentioned the packaging - and it is really poor. It is packed in a thin bubble wrap envelope and then in a thin card container so no real protection for being thrown around in transit.
