Okay, first off, I'm no noob to rowing machines. I've worn out a good half-dozen over the years, most of which, thankfully, are no longer on the market. I've also done my share of rowing small and large craft on streams, lakes, rivers, and open ocean, so I know what rowing is ... or at least, what it can be. Most rowing machines fall far short of that. My last machine was a *gift* from my wife... You know how that goes, you've gotta use it, you can't really return it or complain about it. She meant well. She had a friend that had suggested a high-end hydro-model. My wife, unwilling to fork out $6 grand for a rowing machine found one that "sounded like it did the same thing" .... for under $250. Yeah, you get what you pay for. The castor wheels burned off within the first 2 weeks; the company said they'd replace 'em (took 8 MONTHS!). Actually, the thing ran better on bare stainless bolts. Unfortunately, the rails on the I-bar frame were aluminum. Yeah, you probably see the problem there. It literally welded itself together mid-stroke. Pretty impressive, actually. Piece 0'Junk. So ... back to the drawing board, this time with ME looking. I remembered using the Rowerg at some PT I'd had for a shoulder injury a few years back; remembered really liking it. Went down to the clinic to ask a few questions down there. They had three of 'em that they used to help rehab a variety of injuries, showed me a few other-than-normal used for the RowErg, as well as some tips for the normal use. Also strongly suggested getting the taller legs so it'd be less strain on my back when getting onto the machine. Great advice, as I'm no young pup anymore. Great decision, no regrets at all, except maybe that I wish I'd done it sooner! I get in two 15 minute workouts a day, morning and evening. I'm almost 70, so this works well in my schedule and with my stamina. I shoot for a 3000m sprint, which gives me a pretty good workout, keeps the ol' ticker cranking along pretty well. I guess a lot of folks like to do a half-hour all at one time, good on them; I don't have that kind of time, focus, or stamina anymore. This works well for me, and that's what I like about the RowErg -- flexibility for what YOU need it for.
