This has been a game changer for my front door. The matte black finish looks sleek and modern, matching my home decor perfectly. Installation was straightforward, thanks to the included guide, and I appreciated how simple it was to rekey the lock with the SmartKey feature. Overall, a solid choice for anyone wanting a secure and stylish handle.

I have bought many kwikset locks in the past they have been very good and easy to install. Now they have changed the lock. Designed to be easier to install but I think they are actually harder to. The easy on screw slots are supposed to make it easier to assemble but actually they make it harder to. The striker plate doesn’t leave much room for the lock to catch. I like the older design better but it’s still a good lock. Bought this lock to replace a Schlage lock but this one would not hold the door tight. Change in the game. Had to install the lock on another door that had a window blind that go's over the patio doors. This design was very useful. I didn't have to take the window bling off. Made it easy to install so I guess it has hidden benefits that normally you may not use but if you do I can see why they designed it like this.

I'm not sure if I got a defective knob. I've installed many Kwikset knobs and deadbolts in the past (including a similar model) and this one was the most frustrating and time consuming. 1. The package only came with re-keying instructions. Which wasn't a problem until it felt like the knobs weren't lining up properly. 2. After trying to download the online PDF and watching a video on installation, I realized I had installed it correctly. BUT, the locking mechanism wasn't turning easily. Then, while turning the knob, it felt like there was a catch. It wasn't as smooth as other keyed entry knobs I've installed from them in the past. 3. So, I took the entire thing apart again, checked each part, and since I didn't have any graphite, I used some gun oil. (Hey, whatever works.) Just a couple drops while the knob was disassembled so I could check to see if it was a lubrication issue. It wasn't. Well, it's part of an interior business office door, and that door would look awfully weird with a hole where the doorknob should be, so I reinstalled it, following the strange directions in the downloadable PDF on their main website. 4. Interior lock still wasn't turning properly, so I used the key on one side while turning the lock on the other side. After about 20x, it finally felt like it was moving... but, I'm not confident enough in its operation to try locking it and closing the door behind me. For the price, I'd think the basic function of turning a doorknob would be smooth. But aside from that, the locking mechanism seems to be cheaply made.

Love these locks, recently replaced all locks and deadbolts with Kwikset rekeys. I recently added a security fence with get between my home and shop. I rekeyed it the same as all the other locks. This knob does not meet the level of toughness I'd expect froman outdoor "security" lock. It wobbles and is is "lose". i think with some blunt force it would come right apart. Now mind you I am not returning or replacing. I think it will work fine but if you want a real beast of the knob, look elsewhere.
