Day Hiking Olympic Peninsula, 2nd Edition: National Park / Coastal Beaches / Southwest Washington Review: Just this Book and a Map is all You Need - This is my 16th book in the Day Hiking series (including New England). Have explored many new trails that I probably wouldn't have done if I would have bought the book taking me to trails away from the crowds. Love that I can look up a hike in the At Glance section of the book and see what hikes satisfy what I'm looking for. The hikes are all nicely grouped with elevation, milage, directions, and what passes/maps I need. I love that the 2nd Edition didn't just update trails that were in the first book, but also has other trails that were not in the first book. If you want to explore the Olympic Peninsula - This is it Review: Amazing!! - Great book of hikes & trail on the olympic peninsula. Clear directions, good maps and beautiful imagery of what you will see, has a sense of humor, too. Also marks trails for handicapped and families with kids. Had good advice on what to carry when using those trails. May want to get paperback in addition to kindle ... i used both !

Depends on What You're Wanting
This book lists 136 trails, with maps and specific directions. It also rates each trail by difficulty and by "general appeal." But I was disappointed with it and I won't get a lot of use out of it, because I'm a person who can't do strenuous trails, has never been to Olympic National Park, and I needed something that would help me more easily know which trails are the best to go to. If you live there, this book would be excellent--each time you go, you could choose a trail to investigate. But as a newbie, there are so many trails that it's difficult to choose. Other than the "appeal" stars (which are in the body of each trail description, NOT in the chart at the beginning of the book), there is no commentary that guides you into choosing: no "don't miss this one" type of thing. But if you want detailed information about the trails, this is definitely an excellent choice.

Made our Covid road trip a huge success
Like many people, we passed on a vacation trip and did a road trip closer to home. This guide of Olympic Peninsula was just what we needed. It helped us navigate the popular locations with as few people as possible and helped us find some hidden gems. Great book!

Useful information. And the GPS coordinates of the trail ...
Used it a lot to pick our daily hikes. Very well organized. Useful information. And the GPS coordinates of the trail head saved us a couple of times. I don't know other trail guides for the Olympic, but we liked that the classification by features and we also liked that so many trails were not as popular, yet just as beautiful (if not more)...

Wonderful guide
We just moved into the area and were looking for suggestions of where to go hiking. So far, any hike we have chosen from this book has been amazing! It is easy to follow, with driving and hiking directions, and gives enough detail to pick an appropriate hike for the day.

full of good suggestions for hiking in an area that i am not familiar with. I helped us fill our 3 days in the area with a variety of hikes.

Tiny print, switching to Kindle
I’ll give it five stars as I’m sure it is amazing, but the print is very tiny.
