Not sure what all the fuss is about.
Was very worried reading the reviews after I purchased. Installed all 3 in my drip system pretty easily with no compatibility issues or leaks. Hopefully they last. Appear to be well made, and price was what I was looking for.

A great alternative to Lowe’s kits at a fraction of the price
This drip irrigation part is alternative to the kits and brand sold at Lowe’s and it’s a fraction of Lowe’s pricing. We started with the Lowe’s kit and after deciding to convert our 30’x120’ garden to drip to provide better irrigation and save water, we needed a more affordable solution. We bought 1/4” and 1/2” tubing on Amazon, drippers, and all the 1/4” & 1/2” couplings and fittings. We installed 300 drippers on 6 zones in the garden. 100 drippers on 2 zones in the front landscaping. The 1/4” polyethylene line on Amazon is a little tougher to slide over fittings, but 3 seconds under a heat gun it slides over easily (don’t go more than 3 sec). 50 drippers is about the max that can function on a traditional garden hose bib. We run each zone for about 30 min daily here in Florida (we haven’t had rain in a while and soil drains quickly). We were running sprinklers for much longer and the plants still weren’t getting enough water. A few days on drippers was quite a noticeable difference. Buying all the parts on Amazon saved us 1/2 or more on the project.

The tubing to fit the adapter.
Works great. Easy to install the 1/2" tubing. Be careful to get the right size tubing to fit the adapter.

Worked just as advertised
These are great little adapters. They sure beat paying for tubing to go a long distance when you already have hoses available.

This thing DOES FIT but is not attached the way you think it would
When attaching this, be sure that both pieces are screwed together THEN attach your irrigation line THEN back off the two pieces by unscrewing them. Sounds totally ridiculous but that’s how it work. Save yourself a divorce and Review the instructions on the product description which explains this. Hope you have a happy marriage long after this project ;)

Can't reattach hose collar to the adapter once the hose is pushed over the hose barb
This GHT adapter is designed to connect a 1/2" PVC irrigation hose to a standard outdoor spigot. The setup process is simple in theory: unscrew the hose collar, slide it over the tubing (threaded side facing the hose end), insert the hose barb, then slide the collar back down and screw it on to secure the connection. However, the collar’s internal ridge is slightly too tight. Once the hose is seated on the barb, the collar can't clear the expanded diameter to thread back on properly. This made reassembly nearly impossible without adjustment. I was able to fix the issue by carefully grinding down the ridge by about 1/32" using a beveling chamfer bit. Quick and easy solution, but something the manufacturer should refine.

Worked very well
I had to replace a leaking fitting and this one worked well. Some have indicated they had installation problems, so here are a few hints about how I did it. 1. The ID of the tubing is very important. It needs to be a little over 0.5". I checked mine with a 1/2" drill bit. You could also use a 1/2" dowel. The bit/dowel should be slightly (not much) loose in the end of the tubing. 2. Make sure you don't have any rough edges on your tubing. If you do have some or if the end is not a square cut, make a new cut. 3. Righty-tighty does not work for this fitting. Screw the locking (lower) nut clockwise until it bottoms against the upper nut. Push the tubing onto the fitting and make sure part of it goes over the barb-part of the fitting. Then tighten lower (locking) nut counter-clockwise until it is tight over the end of the tubing. If it leaks, you may need to use pliers to tighten it a little more. Don't overtighten as it is plastic and will crack. I didn't have to do this, but if you have trouble getting the end of the tubing over the barb, you can heat the end of the tubing with a hair dryer or by placing it in hot water. This will make it easier to stretch over the barb.

I was able to MAKE them work, but.....
OK, I gave this product three stars. The reason is that I was only able to make them work by removing the clamping part of the device and using radiator hose clamps on that part instead. I am using these to hook up some 1/2 inch standard poly irrigation tubing to an Orbit 3 port manifold. There was no problem with these at the end where they attached to the Orbit. A little plumbers tape and tightening them really well provided a leak proof connection. It was at the tubing end where it became impossible to connect without a leak with the twist to secure gizmo that are supposed to make a leak proof connection easier. The barb to the stop after the ferrule is too short for one thing. The other is that the clamping device will not hold it in place under pressure. What I did was to remove the clamping device and use a radiator hose clamp to tighten the little bit of hose between the stop and the ferrule. And it really needs to be tightened about as tight as you can make it without crushing anything. So in the end, I have no leak connections to the poly hose side as well as to the Orbit manifold. I should not have had to do that, thus the 3 star rating. And I probably could have used ANY other barbed connection with a hose clamp and gotten the same results. So you can use these and try them but keep a supply of small radiator hose clamps on hand. You will probably need them.
