I didn't get this to dye my hair, I have red hair, but mine is a significantly more unnatural shade of red and henna wouldn't keep that shade. I did get it for a dye like purpose though, henna can be used to dye clothes and to make pigment, I find henna lake pigment (a process that involves using a metal salt like Alum to precipitate a dye into a pigment) makes a beautiful watercolor the same color of some of the redder ochres, but more transparent since it is not crushed up rocks. The powder is very fine, probably some of the finest I have worked with, it made filtering a nightmare, but if you want to turn this into a paste for hair or for doing henna on skin then it is going to work wonderfully. Just a warning, there is no inner bag, so open it away from your face so you don't get a face full of henna dust!
