It's a miracle in a bottle!
I'm 41 and I've never had real issues with my scalp. This might be a long review, but I hope the read is with it to someone. I can only speak to how this shampoo worked for my problem, but here's the honest to God truth... I noticed bumps forming on my scalp over the last 4 months. They weren't itchy and I didn't notice any dryness. I asked my hairdresser about them bc they were now becoming something I was becoming self conscious about. She attributed them to using the same shampoo for a while and recommended switching it up and provided me with a list of shampoos. She also said something about a scalp treatment with mint or rosemary or something like that (I can't remember honestly) that she said would tingle and feel really good. I was super excited for a possible solution. Now at this point, I was also noticing that I was picking at the bumps, causing scabbing; gross, I know. Well, I switched up my shampoo and after a couple weeks, no change. In fact, bc of my obsessive picking, those scabs were now sores and actually bleeding a ton. My husband was horrified at what I was doing to make a bad situation worse. I hopped on trusty ol' Amazon and started looking up treatments for scabs and crap like that. Of course everything for psoriasis and other chronic issues popped up, but not having dealt with anything like this except for the last few months, I was a little overwhelmed with all the options. I found this product and for whatever reason, decided to pull the trigger and purchase it. The price was fair, it seemed to cover a bunch of scalp issues, and the reviews were encouraging. It arrived to my house 4 days ago. I did my first wash with it the day it came. Fast forward 3 days in a row of using it and my scalp is almost completely healed!! I'm not blowing smoke, getting a kick back from the company, or is someone that has a stake in the shampoo game. I am just genuinely relieved, happy, thrilled, and all the other things that when literally after only 3 washes, my scalp was incredibly improved, probably back to 95% normal. I'm finding there is nothing to pick which of course had also helped the healing! It says no scent, but I honestly think it kind of smells like chocolate lol. A little goes a long way. I used about a 1 in circle on my palm and it lathered nicely. There is no weird residue or feeling to my hair. I left it on my scalp for about 2-3 min as it suggests. I'm so impressed with the quality of this shampoo and how it truly helped me! I really hope my experience may help someone, but if this is a hail Mary type of purchase like mine was, this is where you should start!!!

Worked like a charm, great value, highly recommend !
I was constantly getting these irritating pimple like bumps on the back of my scalp. I didn’t understand why, I wash my hair everyday in the mornings before work, and at night before going to sleep. I’m a heavy sweater with oily skin. I tried multiple shampoos, sometimes spending $50 plus on bottles to see if they would rid of the bumps, nothing seemed to work and this went on for a couple of years. When I would get haircuts, I would have to remind my barber about the bumps so he wouldn’t shave too close or else the bumps would bleed, this happened a few times and got me to the point I would be apprehensive about getting a haircut. When I did get a haircut, the bumps were very noticeable causing me to be self conscious about my issue, a couple of my friends even noticed and mentioned the bump (so embarrasing!) I’m not sure why I even tried this shampoo, but luckily I did. This Neutrogena shampoo was the cure. I first purchased this product back on August in 2024, within 4-6 weeks of using this shampoo daily, my bumps and irritations are no longer! Thank you Neutrogena!!!! It’s now June of 2025 and it’s the only shampoo I will ever use. It’s a small bottle at 4.5 ounces, but it last me about a month, because you don’t have to apply a lot, and again I wash my hair twice a day. I would pay 4 times the amount if I had to, because this truly solved my issue. My hair feels clean after washing it, doesn’t leave any weird odors and it works. This $7.50 bottle of shampoo has been a god send to me. Definitely try it if you have a similar issue. Give it time to work, nothing works instantly, took me 4-6 weeks to get my results.

THIS WORKS ON FIRST USE
Only thing that worked for me, I’ve tried literally anything and this is the only thing. I even bought an expensive shampoo and it didn’t work. Buy this for sure, this is very good. It has no weird scent, good lathering , no oiliness, very good value for money, very easy to use, and no dryness to hair nor scalp occurred.

Definitely saw results!
Nice product definitely feel like we’re seeing less dandruff for sure. But it feels like it’s kind of rough on the hair. Definitely want to balance it with some conditioner.

it really works!
seeing incredible improvements to my scalp and face after just 2-3 washes. other shampoos i tried did next to nothing but this is the first one that really gave me relief. if you have bad psoriasis breakouts give this a try because it may just change your life. i will note that it does not smell good, but it's only for the duration of your shower. once you wash it out the smell is gone. it may cause your hair to feel dry once you wash it out but conditioner will solve that problem

Immediate relief, non drying
Included most recent picture of myself to show my hair. My hair has thinned over the years due to age and drastic weight loss. I have increased days between washing hair to prevent further loss. I started developing an itchy scalp with bumps. This shampoo has given me immediate relief to my scalp, does not dry out my naturally curly hair and did not cause excessive hair loss. It seems to made my hair cleaner and shinier. I definitely recommend it

Effective Ingredients, but Results Vary and Bottle is Small
I purchased the Neutrogena T/Sal Therapeutic Scalp Shampoo after reading about its 3% salicylic acid formula, hoping it would help manage scalp buildup and occasional flaking caused by seborrheic dermatitis. I’ve used other medicated shampoos in the past, but many left my hair feeling overly dry or provided only temporary relief. With this product, the results have been mixed, which is why I’m giving it three stars. On the positive side, the salicylic acid definitely helps with exfoliating the scalp. After a few uses, I noticed less itchiness and reduced visible flaking. It’s especially effective when left on the scalp for a few minutes before rinsing. The formula isn’t overly harsh, and it didn’t strip my hair completely of moisture, which is a plus. However, the results weren’t as consistent as I’d hoped. Sometimes it seemed to work well, and other times the itching and flaking returned the next day. I also noticed it works better when used in rotation with other shampoos rather than as a standalone solution. Another important note: the scent is very clinical, which might be off-putting for some, although it does rinse out fairly cleanly. The biggest drawback for me is the size of the bottle. At 4.5 oz, it’s quite small, especially if you’re using it a few times a week. For those with long or thick hair, you may run through it quickly, making it less practical for long-term use unless you're willing to repurchase frequently. In summary, Neutrogena T/Sal is a decent option for mild to moderate scalp issues, but it may not be a cure-all and requires consistent use and proper expectations. Three stars – helpful but not a complete solution, and the small bottle size is a downside.

So far so good
So far this Neutrogena T/Sal shampoo has helped my scalp more than anything I've tried. I've always had itchy, dry scalp since I can remember. Might be because I started dying my hair with cheap box dye around age 13 until about age 37? When I stopped dying my hair is when the dandruff got much worse. I guess constantly throwing my scalp PH out of balance with dying covered up the issues, I really don't know. But around 2020 it started getting so bad the only relief I found was shaving all my hair off and rubbing oil directly on my scalp. That would help for a bit. I could grow it back out maybe 5" or a little more, then just end up shaving it again. The past year I can't get it to grow beyond 2" before I have to shave it and keep oil on my scalp. Basically if I don't shave it I have to oil my scalp 24/7 to keep my scalp moisturized. Which means I can't style it because all the oil. At least shaving it and rubbing oil on my scalp once a day is the better option. I don't like my hair too long anymore, but I'd like to keep some hair. Shaved just isn't good with my face structure. I used many different brands of shampoo that claim to help scalp issues over the decades. I've even been to a dermatologist that took a biopsy of my scalp and said it's just "normal" dandruff. To keep using CeraVe, or other brand free and clear shampoo, and/or zinc shampoo, and use the Rx scalp oil she gave. The Rx shampoo made things worse. None of those things worked or they made things worse. I've bought really expensive brands too. They might help for about a month, but even when it was working, there was always flakes and a constant low grade burning. I've even tried Rosemary essential oil with rosehip carrier oil and that didn't work either. I also wear a silk bonnet when I've got the oil on my scalp and at night. I'm afraid to write this review so soon. I'll edit if things change with this T/Sal. But it has given me the best results super quick. I also had a scalp scrubber that I begun using the last year to help loosen up the build up of dead skin on the scalp. Even when things semi worked there was always tiny flakes when I'd use the scrubber. But not since using this shampoo. I only need to wash my hair about twice a week. My oily scalp issues seem to be better too. The burning is gone. My hair feels soft. I will add in I'm also using Flaxseed gel masks on my hair before going to bed. BUT I started trying this before I got this shampoo and it helped but not like the combination of the two together. I maybe have to use oil on my scalp once a week now and really don't need conditioner. I have used my scalp scrubber on my dry scalp a couple times this week and there was absolutely NOTHING on it when done. Not one flake! My scalp doesn't burn anymore, and it's growing out a bit. Right when I bought this I was already ready to shave it again after 1/4" growth because of winter dry skin. Now it's probably about an inch long and I am staying hopeful it will grow longer. I highly recommend this shampoo. I also recommend using natural homemade flaxseed gel as an addition to it if it doesn't fully work by itself.
