Spend more time eating and enjoying stone crab rather then cracking them and making a mess. This makes cracking crabs much easier. Super fast and less mess. Heavy and durable. Feels professional grade.

Overall it works great, it allows just as much pressure as you like, to gently crack crabs without smashing the meat, or producing shrapnel. I bought it for California spider crabs, which are murder, if you choose to use the legs (optional), they're like trying to crack beef bones for the marrow. But this thing makes breaking the legs easy. It also works great on rock crab claws. That's about it, obviously there's no need for something like this to crack Dungeness crabs. I have an fifty year old pair of pliers from a Subaru tool kit that perform that job perfectly. One slight gripe, they might have moved the pivot link forward an inch. There are some crab leg segments that are too small for the interior bar to crack, you have to move them to the short exterior side, where the leverage is poor, and pieces of shell go flying. Ed: I should have read more reviews, the solution is easy, stick the end of a wooden spatula in there when you need more height to crack a small leg. Duh. Okay, not nearly perfect, it is perfect.

I bought two of these for relatives, had to send one back as it was not needed. Difficult time getting hold of someone at Amazon to explain the refund and charge. Gave up, just waiting for my Prime statement now.

Excellent for stone crab

This is the BEST thing I have bought in a long time!!! Having been trapping Stone Crab in the Florida Keys for years and using a small hammer to crack claws, I can say this is the ultimate cracker. I read another review that it was hard to get a feel for but I found it simple to use the first claw. It requires very little pressure to crack the shell and there is very few small pieces of shell. LOVE IT!!!!

Such a Great Tool, easiest way to crack crab 🦀 in less than half the time. We cracked the crab for our guests and left it in the shell for presentation. It cracks the smallest of legs, the body and the largest of legs with no effort. Guests literally removed full pieces of crab from the shell with their fingers or mouth, no additional cracking, pick tools or forks were necessary. Heavy duty is an understatement, it’s a beast that is perfectly constructed. Highly recommend this product.
