It works
Love this gel. My girl has autoimmune disease, any plaque gets attacked and her gums inflame and become ulcerated. This stuff helps keep any flare up to a minimum. Highly recommended

Lived Experience vs. Vet Theory: Why This Enzymatic Gel Failed My High-Risk Small Dogs After 2 Tubes
When it comes to canine dental health, the stakes go far beyond a sparkling smile - it is a critical factor in a pet’s healthspan and overall lifespan. After a strong recommendation from a veterinarian who said enzymatic dog toothpastes have the best evidence base for biofilm management, I transitioned my two dogs to PET KING BRANDS ZYMOX Oratene Brushless Toothpaste Gel. However, despite the clinical reputation of its dual-enzyme system, my "lived experience" in 2026 tells a different story. The Risk Factor: Periodontal Disease and the Systemic Health Link I was vigilant for a reason: small dogs are disproportionately prone to periodontal disease. Because of tooth crowding, bacteria and food particles trap easily, leading to rapid plaque and tartar buildup. This isn't just about halitosis (bad breath); the systemic health link means oral bacteria can enter the bloodstream, potentially damaging the heart and kidneys. For small breeds with less alveolar bone to support their teeth, even minor gum disease can lead to early tooth loss, significantly diminishing their quality of life and healthspan—the years they spend active and healthy. Pros: Ease of Use & Ingredient Safety Ease of Use: This is an ideal no-brushing solution for pets that resist a standard toothbrush, helping to maintain basic oral hygiene. Safe Ingredients: I appreciated the formula is free from xylitol, alcohol, and detergents, making it a safe daily oral care option for sensitive pets. Palatability: My dogs did not struggle with the application, as the flavour seems mild and non-offensive to their palate. Cons: Ineffectiveness in High-Risk Breeds Increased Plaque Build-up: Despite the enzymatic claims, I observed a noticeable regression. For my dogs, this formula failed as an effective plaque remover or tartar control agent. Failed Microbiome Management: For high-risk pets prone to gum inflammation (gingivitis), the gel did not seem to manage the oral microbiome effectively enough to prevent visible accumulation after using two full tubes. Cost vs. Results: Given the price point, the lack of mechanical plaque removal efficacy makes this a poor value for dogs that require more intensive dental care. Prioritising Longevity through Natural Dental Care While ZYMOX Oratene is a popular veterinarian-recommended choice, it did not meet the needs of my high-risk small dogs. To protect their gum health and maximise their lifespan, I returned to my previous regimen: coconut oil and Dorwest Herbs Natural Dog Toothpaste. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which supports a healthy immune response in the mouth, while the Dorwest formula provides more effective cleaning for my pets. If you are a pet advocate or owner of a small breed, monitor the gum line closely. While the science of enzymatic cleaners is sound, every dog’s oral environment is unique. For my pair, a return to more abrasive, natural toothpastes was necessary to ensure they live their longest, healthiest lives possible.

I have been using this toothpaste every night on my standard poodles for the past 12 years. They love it and come running when I tell them it is "time to brush your teeth". Since using this toothpaste, my dogs have never had to have their teeth cleaned. The vet always comments on how healthy their teeth & gums look. I am now using it on our Havanese puppy and she loves it, too. Worth the price. Quality product.

I have two pugs older than 5y. My oldest has rotten dragon breath and that’s being kind lol I have tried a few different products over the last year from 2 highly rated water additives (she knows it is in there and refuses to drink), to different dog toothpastes and brushes as well as finger brushes. All were like working a second job in the mines- intense. Not to mention nothing worked great. Sure in person could have forced them over time but not with it to me- she already had bad anxiety and I’m not gonna make it worse. That’s when I found the Zymox mouth gel. I was intrigued that you just put a small strip on their gums and let it work. The reviews were solid as well. I had my order delivered 01/18 and have been using it on both dogs at least every other day (sometimes more frequent) for a lake less than a month as I write this. I usually insert the tube tip into their upper cheek on both sides at the gums and do about 1/4” on each side. They both let me easily which seriously shocked me, so extra star for this gel if I could! They like the taste and actually look forward to me using this like a treat. Now here’s where I’m really impressed… They no longer have that rotten mouth smell. Is not quite puppy breath but it’s normal! I never thought I would find a product that actually works!! I’m going to continue to use this as an every other day routine. I do want to warn of one small thing though when you start using this; your dogs breath might get worse before it gets better. Her mouth was so bad the first 2 weeks of use and then it just smelled better and fresher. I think the enzymatic action is removing the build up and junk and that’s why it smelled worse and then once it was removed, the breath/mouth has a normal smell. This is truly a miracle product that saved me a vet trip and having to put the dog under sedation for a teeth cleaning which has big risk. If your dog is picky or finicky with tooth brushing, def give this gel a try.

There's something different about the product. My dog seems to dislike it and refuses it when she would otherwise look forward to it. Upon closer inspection I noticed the smell and consistency of the product to be different from what I got from my vet. Also in the picture provided; notice the slight differences in text font. The item from Amazon has no expiration date printed. While what I got from my vet will expire in a year. In the picture provided: Top = what I got from amazon Bottom = what I got from my vet in Singapore

Credo che riesce a risanare la cavità orale della mia gatta, se anche al inizio non sembrava gradire questo gel, adesso si è abituata più o meno, spero che il motivo non è il sapore cattivo, se anche non ho mai assaggiato.
