Best all time Amazon purchase! After having two different brand ice makers prior that I wasn’t impressed with due to cleaning or mold issues. This one was a “game changer” I didn’t have high hopes but I’m a ”crunchy ice” addict & tryed a third brand (& thankfully the last) from the self cleaning to the perfect size & texture of ice along with its ability to make ice quickly, it 100% exceeded all expectations. I’ve had it for a couple years and I use it all the time so it definitely has a lot of hours on. It works perfect. If this one breaks, I will replace it with the exact same one.

I initially purchased one for myself and then a few weeks later, purchased another to give as a holiday gift. What a monumental mistake. Do NOT buy this product, save your money, it is a complete piece of JUNK!!! These purchases have been a complete waste of money and the worst purchase on Amazon I have ever made. While both units produced nice nugget ice at first with intermittent use, BOTH units lasted less than 5 months, BOTH units began to overheat and emit an alarming, SCREECHING noise that is LOUD. The alarming noise is along the lines of metal from two cars involved in a crash, only long and drawn out like a deflating balloon. It is an alarming and intolerable noise in decibel level and duration. Pure JUNK.

So far this ice maker has performed admirably, but stay tuned. Pros: fast ice, nice soft crunch, larger capacity than my other purchases, reasonably efficient cleaning mode. Cons: squeaky noise (cleaning needed). As I said earlier "stay tuned" review is ongoing, but so far so good! 7/16/25 UPDATE: Well, we have had this ice maker for ten months now and up till recently, it's been working like a charm, nice ice, fast ice, self clean works perfectly, and overall we were very happy, but recently, it started making some really strange noises during the clean cycle, as well as during ice making and the ice making is a little slower now. We have had several ice makers, and they are pretty much act the same way. I will say for this one. It has lasted longer than the others. We have had expensive ones and not expensive ones and unfortunately, they all are pretty much the same. It is unfortunate that they do not have great lifespans. I'm ol school and remember when things were purchased from Sears or Montgomery Wards the quality was very good and the products lasted a long time. I still have some things that are working well. It is sad that companies do not have that same standard anymore.

I love this Silonn ice maker! It produces soft, chewable nugget ice just like the kind you get from Sonic, and it starts making ice in just a few minutes. It’s easy to use, clean, and doesn’t take up much space on the counter. The stainless steel finish looks great in my kitchen. It can be a bit noisy while running, and the ice basket feels somewhat flimsy, but for the price, it’s hard to beat. I’ve used it for daily drinks and even small gatherings with no issues. If you're a fan of nugget ice, this machine is a solid buy!

I love nugget ice and I always have wanted an ice maker that will make it. My refrigerator stopped producing ice but otherwise works great. I saw this item on sale and thought I would try it. I love it. I left it sat for 24 hours as suggested and right at the 24 hour mark I started it up. It makes ice fast! The great thing about it that I did not anticipate, is you leave it on and as the ice melts it will recycle the water. It shuts itself off when the ice basket is full and restarts again as it melts. The ice is soft and perfect for eating too. I use spring water and it tastes amazing. It works so fast I am not even bagging the ice, I just start it when I want ice and leave it on and shut it off when I go to bed. It is not any louder than my dishwasher so you hardly hear it. If you like nugget ice and want something that makes it fast and efficiently then this is a must.

I bought this ice maker 5 months ago. Over time, it slowly has made less and less ice. It's now to a point where it barely makes anything. I still get to hear the loud fan, but now even when I'm running it constantly in an ambient temperature of 70 degrees in the house, the most ice it will ever have in it is a few tablespoons-- it is slowly melting as fast as it can replenish that small amount.

For ten months it worked great, then started making a loud grinding and whistling noise. The ice itself is like small cubes that the machine seems to cut into their shape. It is not barrel ice like Sonic, but it’s still awesome. Not an “opal” type machine though. So anyway, I would run it daily and clean it weekly with the vinegar and water mix and clean cycle then a few rinse cycles of just water. Citric acid crystals might have been a better option, because after I received a replacement I took apart the old machine and mineral deposits had solidified in the water tubes and almost completely blocked them. No vinegar or citric acid would have dissolved them but a weekly cycle of citric acid would likely help with longevity. I think there was a bigger problem though, first, the condenser was somehow also covered in mineral deposits. I had used tap water and filtered water both, so I suggest only filtered water! Also, which might have been the main problem, the motor was spewing out gear oil which means a seal broke after ten months. Your mileage may vary, I had hoped not to get a lemon and maybe I didn’t, maybe the parts just aren’t all that high quality. Suffice to say, I’ll be babying my new unit and hope to get more than ten months out of it. The company was reached by their website, linked under “support” on the Amazon order page. A few days of back and forth emails and letting them know I completed their trouble shooting tips and they agreed to fedex me a new one which came from California in about a week. Stainless steel was out, but the black unit looks even better to me. Hopefully this information helps, I would say it’s an overall good machine but again…Your mileage may vary.
