Very Good Product - Does What It States.
It’s pretty hot here in Florida, and the garbage cans are prone to having hundreds of flys around them. This is the third ‘Garbage Guard Pest Strip’ I’ve purchased off Amazon, and over all I am very satisfied. They indeed solve the problem, work very fast, and flys are no longer an issue. Not sure if they last for the claimed four months though, because mine always come unstuck after about six weeks by the garbage truck when it shakes the garbage can to empty it. But for the price, six weeks is pretty good. A couple of little criticisms though. Removing both pieces of paper on the sticky thing that holds it onto the garbage can lid is a pain, and it takes me ages to do. Maybe add a tab or something, so they are easier to remove. Also, as mentioned above, they fall off prematurely. For me, they would be much better if a stronger adhesive could be used.

time will tell
high star rating, but do not yet know if it kills/killed any insects -- the 1" square sticky, sticks well, but was difficult to get the backing off of both sides -- I installed one under the lid of my "roller" garbage can -- the weather changed and I haven't seen any pests in the garage where the can is so... -- the directions are in tiny print and I have not yet taken a magnifying glass to them so I'm not up on the details other than to see that it kills a fairly large variety of bugs -- I had one thought while installing -- find a place where it won't get hit by the garbage when dumping -- the plastic caseing for the bait/poison is much more durable than I was expecting

UPDATE: Product does work!
UPDATE 8/10/25: After having this product for almost 2 months, I have to change my view on the "garbage insect killer" today. I started noticing that the maggots are no longer there. The flies keep coming, but no maggots are being made, so I am happy that we have this product installed in our organic garbage can. And in my case, the product still sticks to the lid of the can so that I will give it 4 stars instead of 1. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’m sorry to say that this product doesn't work for us. We have tried it for a month, but it hasn't killed or kept away any flies. The flies are still there. What works is that it still sticks to the lid of the trash can, but that's the only positive thing I can say.

The tape is not strong enough to secure the product
This review highlights issues with the case and setup rather than the product's effectiveness in killing flies, which seems to work as promised. I had concerns about the product's reliability after going through the placement instructions. The case includes a piece of double-sided tape meant to adhere to the case and then to the inside of the trash container lid. This design presents two potential failure points: the tape might detach from either the case or the lid. Additionally, every time the lid is opened and closed, force is applied to the tape. Since we put trash in our container several times a day, this creates constant stress on the adhesive. On trash day, the truck dumps the container with even more force to ensure all the contents are ejected. We have two containers, and unfortunately, the product didn't last until trash day in one of them; it only lasted five days. The other one is still attached to the lid, but I doubt it will hold up after the trash is dumped.

Works very well
Handy to ensure no insects get into or breed in your closed garbage can. Despite the lid being closed, we used to get flies, maggots and ants inside the can. Been using this for several years now and haven't had any bugs at all. Easy to attach to bottom of lid. Don't have roaches, so don't know about those. Does need the lid to be closed as it only handles a certain size of volume inside the can. If you leave the lid loose or open, this won't work for you. I use in our large garbage can in the garage. I doubt it's safe to use inside, especially in a kitchen.

Kills Everything In the Garbage Can!
I figured if one of these is good, two will be even better so I used some gorilla double sided tape to mount the two little containers of insect killer on the inside top of my garbage can lid. Before there were always flies buzzing around because it gets really hot here in the summer and when I looked into the garbage can I knew something had to be done. So after washing out the garbage can real good with some disinfectant spray cleaner I installed these and they are working great. I even see dead flies around the rim of the garbage can and some dying inside. This stuff works! Don't doubt it. I would however wear a face mask next time I install these because this is not a scented product and you can't tell if you are breathing any in yourself. I suggest they scent it slightly so you'd know! I advise only using this in an open area and OUTSIDE! This is not for indoor use! Now each time I got to put the garbage out I am not attacked by flying insects! It is great. I'd definitely get more of these next summer. I am using two at a time! They will last 4 months! Install them at the end of spring and you'll be good for the summer. I am not a doctor, nor is this review medical advice. Please consult with a professional if need be. ~The Rebecca Review

Good product, terrible glue
While this is a great product and kills the maggots/bugs in my trash can I have yet to find a good adhesive to actually keep this in my trash can and this is way too expensive to keep buying every couple weeks

It works great
They seem to be working. I haven’t had a single fly near my trash bins since I started using these. And I used to have TONS of flies before. Great value, no unpleasant smells, works right out the package, small enough that it doesn’t get in the way of the bags going in and out of the bins. Stays in place well and hasn’t come loose. I’ve had them on for about 4 months? Highly recommend this item.
