Frame Case for DJI Osmo Action 1 Skeleton Housing Protective Shell Cage with Cold Shoe Mount Photography Vlog Accessories Kit for DJI Action 1

I have a few of these frame cases, I like to switch from one stand to another so I keep them handy. They are very well built, super easy to use and very affordable. If you’re looking for something to hold your dji osmo action, you found it.

I like the fact that the door opens up by the battery, so I don't have to take off the case to charge the camera.

This is a drop-in (drop-over?) replacement for the original plastic cage that came standard with the DJI Osmo Action, with three major differences: 1) It has a cold-shoe attachment on one side (the right side as you face the back of the camera), which is (for me) the main appeal of this item. Being able to tack on a small utility light straight onto the camera is a plus for certain situations. 2) Instead of the fancier, rubberized "over-buttons" that the original has, this one simply has cutouts that allow you to access the buttons directly. 3) The articulated "foot" that attaches to the bottom of the cage has no 1/4"-20 attachment screw hole, but rather a tension clip that's the type that clips into vests/helmet rigs/straps/etc. I have a lot of action cam gear and the parts are all mostly interchangeable, so this isn't a hiccup for me, but if you need this to be a perfect 1:1 replacement for a lost original, you may end up needing to get an additional foot piece if you want to attach this to a screw-mounted anything. I also feel like the plastic area around the rear screen is just a bit chunkier than the original, and may cut off a marginal amount of view space around the edges, but it doesn't really make a difference in terms of use. Given the price, this is a great option if you need to add a cold shoe mount to your DJI Osmo Action cam.

Decent case. Only problem is cold shoes are too loose for slide-in style attachments. If locking screw style, it’s fine.

You can attach an external power source without having to remove the side door on the Oslo. This is very important to me as I use the Osmo outdoors for time lapse photography and I need longer battery life than the internal battery can deliver. I was alway concerned about losing the little door when I had to use the external battery, no longer. I think this one feature makes this a no brainer, the cold shoe is an added plus.
