An excellent taste and aroma, right and not excessive caffeine content, excellent value for money

I decided to try this illy coffee because I wanted a cup that still felt rich and full bodied even though it’s caffeine free. The 250g tin is a handy size and knowing it’s made from 100 percent Arabica beans and a medium roast gave me hope for something decent. The first few brews hit nicely smooth rounded flavour with hints of caramel and a clean finish that left nothing bitter in the cup. The taste profile includes caramel, chocolate and toasted bread with a sweet aftertaste and on my espresso machine that came through quite well. What I particularly liked is that it gave me something closer to proper coffee even though it’s decaf. It held up well as a plain espresso and felt just right when I had it with a splash of milk. On the other hand it’s not completely flawless. If you compare it side by side with a freshly roasted caffeinated specialty bean you will notice it lacks a little of the brightness or depth you sometimes get with premium roasts. Also because it comes pre ground, it doesn’t give you the same freshness you’d get by grinding beans yourself. That being said for the convenience and quality you’re getting, I think it delivers very well and would recommend this.

A great decaf ground coffee for espresso machines! I have a bean-to-cup espresso machine, so it's a bit of a pain swapping out the beans to make a cup of decaf, but this works a treat. Good aroma, great taste and the perfect grind for espresso machines.

Delicious coffee with a stronger, fuller taste. My go-to choice and ideal for the first cup of the day to get you started. Grind size is fine for my cafetiere and aeropress. However, not for the first time the tin was delivered without its lid. This is the third time this year (I get it delivered every three weeks with the occasional emergency tin ordered separately). Once again I had to get the lid from the empty tin out of the recylcing bin to use on the new tin, which is kind of keeping in the spirit of recycling I guess, and not the end of the world but... once the vacuum lid is taken off there would have been no way to keep the coffee fresh. Especially annoying if the recycling had been collected before opening the new tin.

I’ve always loved illy coffee but this particular one is excellent! I use it in a moka pot and drink neat. It’s not bitter and tastes delicious! The quality is good and the packaging seal ensures the product stays fresh right until the end

Be very careful when opening the coffee can pull ring, as I had a nasty shock when I was blasted in the face, with coffee granules, luckily I was wearing glasses. Cover with a towel or something. The coffee is good but I will be much more careful in the future.
