Review Title: The FastCap PMMR: A Must-Have for Precision Carpentry
The FastCap PMMR tape measure is a brilliant tool for any carpenter. The 32mm True system (Little dots for standard measures) is perfectly tailored for framing work and European-style cabinet layouts, making repetitive 32mm measurements effortless and precise. It’s intuitive and makes layouts feel incredibly smooth. The high-contrast tape ensures measurements are easy to read in any light, and the metric/metric reverse (PMMR) design allows me to measure from either hand without flipping the tape—a small feature that makes a big difference. I’m particularly impressed by the erasable notepad and built-in pencil sharpener, which save me from running back and forth to my chop saw. The rugged, compact design feels durable yet light, and the secure belt clip means it’s always within reach, even on busy job sites. The tape is clearly designed with professionals in mind, handling tough environments and delivering consistent accuracy. The only thing I’d change? Adding measurements to the bottom of the tape would make working at height or in awkward positions even easier. It’s a minor suggestion for an otherwise outstanding tool. I’m already planning to get other FastCap models in imperial for added versatility. If they’re anything like this one, they’ll quickly become essentials in my kit. Verdict: Practical, durable, and thoughtfully designed, this tape measure is a top-tier addition to any carpenter’s toolbox. Highly recommended!

Love it, favourite tape get.
I've used all brands from draper to Stanley and milwaukee to tracer but this is by far my favourite. Lightweight with a sturdy clip, the action is smooth and you have the choice of a quick stop press and hold button or locking it off which is a nice touch. The tape itself is accurate (compared to my verniers) and I like the double metric print... saves the faff when measuring from either end of a project. The little notepad on the case is a nice touch for those of us who end up doing the embarrassing walk back to remeasure cause we took a couple of paces and forgot the measurement... The inbuilt sharpener is a nice little addition too. Just get one, or even two if you're a typical woodworker and misplace these as often as I do, you won't regret it.

Finally, a fully metric tape measure
Easy to read with metric values on opposing sides of the tape (no more imperial) I think values on the underside of the tape would make it perfect but to date it’s not been an issue. Would recommend.

Clash of dimensions.
Generally good with one criticism, the dimensions of the case for internal measurements is marked on the case in inches which is not too intuitive for an all metric tape!

Best tape measure I’ve ever owned
It’s a little on pricy side but this tape measure is bang on. Really accurate, well built, easy to read and pencil sharpener built in, genius! Worth the money and if some care is taken easily a career lasting item.

Quality and accurate.
I love these tapes, fantastic quality. I have all the variations in my workshop. They are a quality item, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants a good tape measure.

Significantly better than US foreign policy
The tape measure market is fascinating. Apparently, in the UK, everyone wants inches. Perhaps something of the Empire to cling to, helping to forget all the sickening acts of terror meted out on sovereign nations in the name of civilisation. We gave America inches and they are still hanging on to them for dear life, along with gallons, yards, miles and movie remakes without subtitles for the folks 'who don't read too good'. I like to think they were inspired by Brits to destabilise, undermine and asset strip Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya & Syria to name but a few. I fully expect a reversion to imperial only tape measures following Brexit, (although I am not holding my breath) but I have never understood why it is so difficult to get an all metric tape in the UK and the irony of buying from America is a deep one. I am on my fifth or sixth of these excellent tapes. I like the mini whiteboard so I can make a note of a dimension before I forget it thirty seconds later and the pencil sharpener is frankly inspired. I like that, just in case the US carpenter starts sweating at the lack of imperial, there are standard US kitchen cabinet dimensions noted on the blade, in inches. God bless America

What can I add to what's already been said? This is only 5 m, so more for furniture and finish work than construction, but easier to pocket or pouch than a big 8 m tape, and 5 m is plenty for most projects. The lock is ordinary, but the manual brake button is excellent. You quickly come to rely on it because it works so well. The hybrid belt clip (spring steel but with a thumb flange to open it) is also an intelligent improvement over the usual. Even the pencil sharpener turns out to be a welcome little addition. Sure, you have a knife in your pocket, but when you're up on a ladder and break your pencil lead, why whittle a new point when you can do a better job with just a couple turns, without putting anything down or fumbling for another tool? Best, though, is that this is metric-only, meaning both sides of the tape are useful, so you can pull from either left or right, double-mark your measurement for drawing perpendiculars, and tilt the tape whichever way works best to bring the scale flush with your work. I appreciate the apparent economy of printing two scales on one tape, but I'd much rather have 2 good tapes, one metric and one imperial, than one bastard tape which, half the time, the scale you want is facing away from you; even when it's not, the far side is useless for double-marking, so you have to shift the tape to achieve that precision. I haven't used the doodle pad. Well, I haven't needed to use the doodle pad. I tried it to see how it works (it does) but, frankly, 285 X 70 mm is incomparably easier to remember than 11 5/32 X 2 3/4 inches. Also far easier to read, add, subtract, multiply or divide. USA is facing the 21st century armed with an 18th century measurement system, holding itself back out of sheer stubbornness. That said, the doodle pad is another clever addition that's either extremely useful, avoiding the frustration of getting the saw set up and having to go back and remeasure because you aren't positive you remember right, or it's inconsequential because you always remember right. I didn't expect to like this tape as much as I do. From the bright-white background and crisp tick marks to that soft brake right where your forefinger lands, this is one well-thought out measuring tape. I could wish the back of the blade were marked with big bold numbers on a transverse scale (to be read while the tape is extended vertically) but maybe that's asking too much. This much will do nicely. PS: I said it's strictly metric, but 16" marks are in the center gutter for finding studs in North America. The 32mm marks are tiny dots on the main scales, but 16" marks are bold red rectangles with nothing in between, which is appropriate for their purpose. One more intelligent, thoughtful innovation!

Finaly I got meself this gem of tools I use often. Away more easy for me to read the numbers. The price is allways bigger, since those Manufacturing cost is bigger to, and only byers to pay. It is hard to find lefthanded tools overall, and some are simply to expensive. Just happy to see this great messure tabe is not one of them. I think the price is pretty fair. So all lefthanded user should buy one. Buy with confidence.

I like using metric and imperial for different tasks but I hate using tape measures with both, I like the marks to be readable on both sides of the tape, so I carry this tape measure and the fastcap lefty/righty tape, they're both great! Things I like about this tape is the easy to read markings, you're able to write on the tape itself which makes it easy to transfer measurements, there is a pencil sharpener built in, and it feels good in the hand, perfect sized tape for shop use. Things I don't like about this tape is, the pencil sharpener isnt the best, comes in handy in a pinch but its pretty low quality. It's also not the most durable, any time I drop it, it always seems to land right on the hook and ends up getting bent, the tape itself also creases fairly easily and after using it for a few months I notice some spots that are a little bent, it doesn't affect the accuracy or anything, but compared to something like a stanley tape measure which can take a beating, this one needs to be treated a little gentler.
