Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Riveting Read - Easy Learning. - Pretty soon after your French Primer, you can read/ study this with very great pleasure, for this simplified dual-language book by 2Language Books is a terrific story with lots of dramatic incident missing from the various films, particulary the saving of Mrs Aouda from being burnt alive with her Maharaja-husband's corpse. She is rescued by Passepartout and Phileas Fogg and, after many shared cliff-hangers, she marries the impurtable Foggy Front. There is a good deal of travel vocabulary, especially oceanic. It is, of course, an abridged version of Verne's book, but the chief translator, Nik Marcel, excels: when I got the end of the French-English story, I was confronted with three more versions - French to English, French alone, and English alone. And all for 77pence! 2Language Books have published other dual-language books and a French Grammar, also inexpensive. I found this book an absolute joy - when one is learning one has a right to feel virtuous! Strongly recommended. Review: Its a good story, well worth reading - Its a good story, well worth reading.

A classic literature language aid
An excellent way to improve ones French whilst reading a fun story. I have used it as a helping hand whilst I read the original French non abridged version and having the English version helped me translate the original into Danish for our literature class

Excellent as far as it goes
Excellent as far as it goes. I personally would have preferred the original text but this version fulfils its purpose.

poor
Very skeptical about these other reviews. Sound like they're written by the seller or someone. The is an unaturally format for such a story, far too large and too thin. The passage breaks are abrupt and upset the flow of the story. I have read much better dual language books before. Omilia languages Le Petit Prince is fantastic.

Alain Couchot has one of the most beautiful voices and diction among French narrators. I only wish he would read more books. His reading of Le Chat Noir by Edgar Allan Poe is gorgeous. I often listen to it as I go to sleep. It's like the most mellifluous music. Unfortunately, I cannot do the same with this recording because it plays nearly a full minute of music (Vivaldi?)--at a much louder volume--at the beginning and end of every single chapter! Even if I'm listening fully awake, I object to that suddenly louder and utterly pointless interruption every 9 minutes or so. It completely ruins the enjoyment of the book.
