Gearbox CX14H Ultimate Power Hyper Pickleball Paddle

As a mechanical engineer, I can tell you there’s nothing about the equipment (paddles or balls) associated with this new fad sport that are impressive. Whether you spend a little or a lot, all you will get is a dumb looking item, the best of which perform slightly better than the rest. ma Mnufacturers are trying to get you excited about ever more elite materials and fancy designs, but the fact is, it’s just a dumb paddle, no strings, or other real tech, just a synthetic hollow core board. English (spin control) is discouraged so even surface treatments are being outlawed. Spend the money like I did to impress yourself and your friends but don’t feel badly at all. If all you have to spend is 60 or 80 bucks you’ll be fine, especially if you’re not absolute pro. That said there’s nothing about this pattle that is not as good as it can be in terms of aesthetics and function, albeit limited by the sport’s rules. PS I borrowed the term relating to the sport’s crappy technology from the last pro that gave me a lesson. It’s dumbed down tennis, but it’s designed to open and broaden access, while being fun. Mission accomplished.

This is my go to brand. All the gearbox paddles have worked well for me. This specific paddle enables more forgiveness with the larger sweet spot compared to the others in the brand. I would love to be an ambassador to Gearbox as I can't always afford to purchase the latest version. Amazon has enabled me to always get the lowest price available.

Has alot of power and trampoline effect

Retains the same feel/touch and exact same control characteristics as the original cx14. So drop shots and all shot placements are exactly the same. The sweet spot is more reactive than the original and it’s significantly larger. So much easier power drives etc. The head weight is increased so the only drawback to this vs the original is it’s not quite as fast in the hands battles but the 14mm thickness still cuts through the air well. It is still much faster in hands battles than the average paddle. What you gain in hands battles is that speed ups are much easier. I’ve used about 6-8 different high end paddles and this one is the only one that turns me into a totally different player. The only situation that maybe one would choose the og cx14 is a small female, but they are so gutless maybe id choose a different paddle altogether.

I had demoed this paddle from Gearbox and purchased it off Amazon for Fathers Day. The one piece design is absolutely a game changer. The handle is adjustable by simply taking out the inserts for a more custom grip. I play about 15-20 hours a week and found this gem to up my game to the next level. The grip is great and very comfortable. also the surface of the paddle makes defense and slicing easy. I've purchased other $200 plus paddle and definitely find the Gearbox CX14 to be the best.

So I realize this is an expensive paddle. But it’s the best. There is a sticker on this that says - this will improve your game. And it totally does!!! I am a beginner and this totally improved my game. Backhands are a lot easier, dinks and resets are easier. I found this paddle better than the pro versions they have. Also good control on them and great spin. I am a fan of this paddle.
