Q: Does the device indicator light stays on letting user know which device its currently connected to?

Yes, it has three lights indicating which device it is connected to. and it stays on once it is connected to the particular device.

Q: Will this work with Bluetooth 5.1?

I have no clue what version bluetooth I have! LOL... but I have a fairly new PC (built in 2022), and this mouse works very well with it.

Q: Can side buttons and scroll wheel presses be programmed to imitate keyboard keystrokes? E.g., Ctrl+F, or Esc?

I don't think so. You need an app to program it and I have not seen one.

Q: Is there an option to turn off/adjust sleep mode? I can't stand that feature

There is the On and Off feature. That is really all you need. This Arteck Mouse is excellent in all respects. I haven't found any other that holds a candle to this Mouse.
